Also if you play at 30fps you'll have more input lag as it takes more time to show a frame on display during each second because it has to refresh (or repeat) each frame more times before going to the next frame of animation meaning that since 1 second= 1000 milliseconds you'll get 1. 1000/30fps= 33 milliseconds of delay 2. 1000/60fps=16 to 17 milliseconds of delay Also on top of that delay caused by the amount of fps, there's the additional delay caused by the controller you use, the display you use as some do more image processing than others which causes even more delay (motion interpolation being the biggest offender), also if you're online your connection plays a role (and a big one at that)

Input lag is one thing, interference is another. Since the objective is to have a stable low-lag input, they are both just as important. Bluetooth gets the occasional stutter from interference whereas it doesn't happen over USB. This has been my experience on both the PS4 and PS5.

@mtothem13372 жыл бұрын
It's true that latency isn't noticably different. But the benefit with the cable over wireless is that you will never risk dropping any packets. Which can happen for various reasons. Like being to far away from the console, or having other devices interfere with the signal.

Also with wired you don't have to worry about low battery and having to rush finding a cord in the middle of an online game. Even tho I have a bluetooth dongle for my PC I still played weird for this reason. I also just found out about controller overclocking with PC as well. Also another reason to play weird. @campersruincod61342 жыл бұрын
Whilst what you say is true, I still wouldn't recommend Bluetooth at least for the PS5. When measuring average input delay, USB is extremely consistent and seldom deviates from its average. Wireless on the other hand has a higher average, with lots of high peaks. Rocket Science's KZbin channel tested this. So on PS4 you're effectively making a trade off between responsiveness and consistency. It depends what you play. If you're executing repeated actions and to be as consistent as possible, like say playing Rocket League at a high Rank, you may want to use USB. For a game that doesn't solely rely on mechanics but does benefit from speed like CoD, playing Bluetooth may be best. On PS5 the polling rate appears to be the same between both input methods, which makes USB a no brainer especially if you're playing at a desk. You get the fastest input and extremely consistent input together.
@NewOldie2 жыл бұрын
As a ps5 owner I can confirm it makes no difference if you use the controller wired or Bluetooth both input methods are the same for the system. Who ever did the in-depth analysis for it is spot on . You can play the controllers wired or Bluetooth it wouldn’t make an difference while on PS4 controllers there’s a significant sudden change . I personally would recommend using Bluetooth on the ps5 as it’s more improved compared to PS4 and the input lag is just the same as if you played wired no matter what.

PS4 uses Bluetooth on same frequency that channel 6 from WiFi, so if you use a channel 1 or 11, 12 or 13 you won't have issues. Also today's tva you have to use gamer mode on the tv so it doesn't increase the lag, it actually works a lot . PS5 has the same issue as the Bluetooth is the same , whatever version the Bluetooth has it works on the same frequency. Everything you use with wireless whether is by WiFi or Bluetooth you will have lot of interfere for a playstation controller and even many of the drones with wifi that use the same channels or frequencies, you have to change channels on wifi. Every Bluetooth device is a menace for playstation controllers. Headphones, ear buds, smartwatches, phones with Bluetooth connected to a device and etc

hardwire is always better... no matter the hardware... 💯 there is no exception to this rule.... physics says so...electricity travels at light speed... the only thing getting in the way is the resistance of the physical wire, which is negligible.... The signal travels in a straight line following the cable. wireless and Bluetooth travel in a wave form which is not as direct... and other electromagnetic interference will also impede this signal. think WiFi vs Ethernet Internet connection.... Hardwired Ethernet will ALWAYS BE FASTER, BETTER, AND LESS LATENCY especially if your cable is shielded

Just use either of it and be done with it. Use the cable to charge your controller while playing the game Use wireless when your controller is fully charged and you don't feel like being tethered.

I was using Xbox 360 controllers on my PC for 10 years. And recently I picked up a PS5 controller and the difference is unbelievable! After playing with the DualSense controller I realized what I was missing, the 360 controllers had massive input lag and the DualSense had virtually none! I felt like I was playing on a console again, but it was still my PC. Amazing controller! Only problem is Sony doesn't have official drivers for Windows and most games recognize it as a Xbox controller.

I find this to be true because even if I happen to need to use my phone while it's plugged in to the charger cable it lags.

I don't know what your talking about,but it definitely has less input lag plugged in. I recently just started doing this and noticed the difference. My shots even register faster with it. No,it's not any crazy, but I can tell the slight improvement

this uh... this seems like GIGANTIC fucking news for the fgc since most tourneys use ps4's and most players leave their controllers plugged in during matches

Most of the time when people have input lag they don’t have their TV set on game mode. Without game mode it causes like 1 second additional input lag

Input lag is always because of the monitor. If you're experiencing input lag, check for game settings. If there are none, you need a new TV with no input lag.

No need in having to compare PS4 and PS5 controllers when the PS5 MSRP is unequivocally unavailable for most people. Meaning we don't even have the console yet.

I was going through comments and no one has mentioned about gamers like me. Although I'm a lucky owner of a PS5, I still play every game with my PS4 controllers (main reason for extra two buttons attachment and always wireless), except of course PS5 games for which console will force you to use only PS5 controllers. I play a lot of fps games including very demanding in reflex Warzone and other Cods and trust me guys, playing with wire is bullshit. Even before I got my hands on PS5 (but I've already had the TV with really low input lag and hdmi 2.1) I have noticed quicker responses especially when I was playing Dirt 2.0 when you driving 150km/h through the woods. I needed a while to get used to it. PS. Definitely turn the game mode on.

This is my case, I play warzone with a PS4 controller and the two paddles attachment from Sony at the back, the other games with the PS5 controller, I still can believe that after more than one year, Sony has not released a back paddles attachment for PS5 controller.

There’s is no shot wireless is better than plugged in for MLB The Show for example. It’s noticeable on a game with maximum reflex requirement
@welit71872 жыл бұрын
There is only a noticeable difference on the DualShock 4. Goes from 12.8 ms wirelessly to 20.8 ms wired iirc.

To be honest I don't care about PlayStation 5 for some reason I keep seeing weird stuff about the PS5 like it's a piece of s*** or having lots of issues or problems don't do this don't do that it's okay I'll stick with my PS4 I'm happy with it I'll wait another four to five years for the PS5 Maybe and by that time I'm sure all the Kinks will be out or slim version or something anyway my biggest disappointment it's not 100% backwards compatible well because they want to sell all the old games the new systems just remake them or make them look better people will buy them I just wanted to enjoy the original ones PS1 PS2 PS3 games on the PS5 console I'm sure it could have being done

No, it doesn't have to do with input lags my guy, it ruins ur controllers battery as u use the USB wired connection to ur ps but then charges ur controller. So guys never use a device while its charging!!
