It's not stupid though. That's what he was saying, they had to really think about it. It's a sensitive issue so to go ahead with it they had to have a really good reason. It seems they were really feeling the actress fit the character and that the character was meant to be black and that felt right - so right they are willing to court possible controversy. I think this stuff isn't as bad when devs explain that they are aware of the sensitivities but give their reasoning for why they go ahead with certain decisions like this. Talk to the fans, it's all about talking to the fans and not ignoring problems like this and hoping nobody notices.
