Math with 3x DR Nodes and 1x Feel no Pain was 55% Damage Reduction. Now after it's multiplicative it's down to 47.5% with those. The innate 20% was already multiplicative, as was the 20% HP damage reduction that somehow also worked on the Toughness. Mobile Emplacement is also multiplicative.

This was a really great vid, loved the info and the laid back explanations! New Sub earned here mate I would suggest a lucky bullet, barrage kickback it hits more often than not in Barrage I had 3 in a row 2 shots and melted half an Auric damnation plague ogryns health in 1 sec haha

10:22 I'll give my reasoning for not using The Best Defence as often. 1. If I am attacking multiple enemies, they will typically, if not always, be weaker targets. I will aim to kill and reap the toughness on kill instead. 2. The same enemies I would be hitting also get staggered easily especially if I am able to hit many at once. If I'm targeting only a single enemy with single targeting attacks, I'm more likely to get flanked. If I cannot kill several at a time I can definitely kill one at a time, hince the other talent is king. 3. Confident strike is entirely better than this as well, so if I am running confident strike blessing, taking The Best Defence is just a waste of points. 4. To emphasize a point from earlier, hitting multiple enemies that are weak and killing them relatively quickly (like hordes or groups of gunners) will grant plenty of toughness for doing so. Consider time to kill and single targeting instead before taking The Best Defence. Feel free to correct me or add on.

@@OniGanonI typically run mk IV cleaver. I can stagger a up to two maulers okay while cleaving some other weaker targets around them. If I run savage sweep then I can definitely stagger several of them at once. Dreg ragers are easy to cleave, but not so much the scab ones, I take a similar approach to the maulers in that case. Hitting multiple crushers? Is that a thing in melee? I might be able to do that with the slab shield, but those should be dealt with and killed one at a time anyway. If I choose to use slab shield then all of these enemies are a joke and I definitely wouldn't need The Best Defence.

Dude, just imagine running a tanky gunlugger ogryn build with the achklys(?)(I don’t know how it’s spelled, but it’s the heavy stubber that clears hordes and acts like a real LMG) with the suppression blessing and an accuracy buff!

Going to play some ogryn tonight and ive changed a few things per your recommendations and im going to see how my games go. Do you run unarmored on other ogryn melee weapons cuz thats something I never really thought of. My bully club has thunderous with unyielding and flak damage.

Would you say that 3 toughness curios are the way to go generally? Currently I run 2 health and 1 toughness curios for all my ogryn builds, should I change this?

I’ve got 196 hours on Darktide and played nothing but ogryn, and the game is still fresh and fun with all the different build in the ogrynomicon! I’ve literally never felt the need to swap to a different class🤣 especially since theres no guide to the other classes as comprehensive as what yall have written! Keep up the excellent work and you guys are amazing!

Why are the ogryns knives so weak? You can get a lot more done with other classes using the small knife, compared to the ogryns knife. It is stupid, the ogryns knife is bigger so it should do more damage, at least equal to the small knife used by other classes. It is also ridiculously slow to use, considering how strong the average ogryn is, that slab of metal the ogryn uses as a knife should act much faster in such a strong arm. The Power maul also is absolutely useless and underwhelming.

The heavy attack tree seems overtuned to compensate for weak melee weapons when all the weapons should be improved and heavy hitter made less impactful.

Human combat blades have weak cleave and are slow at killing hordes, but have strong precision strikes instead. The Ogryn cleavers are the opposite. They have really strong cleave damage and hordeclear but don't have single target damage that is as strong (but you can get close with heavy attack buffs and Thrust blessing).

Ask the devs why they cant just let us craft our weapons like in vermintide 2. So we can actually make builds and test things out for fun instead of just watching youtube videos.

@@MaggotAddict21 this is a load of horseshit. Anytime you want to try a new weapon you are gated by layers upon layers of rng. Even just getting a new mark/version of weapon you have to go through rng gamba via shop or wasting hundreds of thousand of gold buying greys. The real reason its like this is so they can mask their piss poor weapon balance. Every class has 2 or 3 best weapons in all situations with 12-15 weapons that are just self imposed handicaps. Meanwhile vermintide 2 each weapon excels in specific areas or hits great breakpoints vs specific elites/specials.

@@morioh6623 I can't speak for Vermintide 2 balance but you're right. There will always be weapon builds that are better than others but I would disagree with the mentality that other weapons are piss poor or something. I output the most damage in every game with every character regardless of loadout provided it is optimized the best way it can be optimized. I like the fact that I can constantly roll for something better instead of being stuck with one thing. I get that it is an arbitrary handicap but I think it has its benefits. I really do understand your frustration and I would rather them change it to appeal to the majority of the community but gambling for weapons is fun for me. I don't want to hyper optimize everything. I'll get bored in a few weeks.

@@MaggotAddict21 yea i do too. But trying to experiment with all the different weapons while dealing with 5 random stats, 2 perks and 2 blessings makes it almost impossible to test anything. The reason why its frustrating is because darktide is one of the better fps games at its core.
