"Playtesting" while waiting for the event start

I’ve got the opposite POV, I’m washed now, but back when I was topping events pretty consistently, one of the big differences I made was actually playing with my real deck before the event started because I found that if the first YGO I played all day was round 1, I had a much higher chance of losing that round, which can derail your entire day. Now maybe you don’t play in the main event room, but I needed to warm up first and get into the right rhythm. There is the risk of revealing your deck, but if you’re mindful of that and your surroundings, it’s fine, but by the later rounds, you should already know what most of your opponents are playing anyways 👀

I think the number 1 thing people do is they playtest with their friends and the "tech" card that they put in isn't good and now all of a sudden people are second guessing their decklist. So rather than giving yourself confidence you are slowly stripping it away before round 1 even started.

I get warmed up by playing other decks usually I used to play my actual deck before an event but I learned my lesson lol a guy sat and watched my whole duel then the event starts and I’m 3-0 and get matched up against him also at 3-0 and he knew my plays from watching so I now usually warm up with RDA because I’m not going to use it in the event and if someone watches and suspects RDA they’re getting cooked 😂😂
