When they first started doing rotations on the release of pearl, iirc they explained the reason they put maps out of rotation even in casual modes is so that new players can start playing the game with set of maps that don't deviate when they finally become able to play competitive while maintaining a balance of variety without being too overwhelming. They can simply level to 20 with a learnable collection of maps, and jump right into competitive without any overtly game changing surprises.

Those Raze mobility nerfs worry me. Satchels are one of the most fun and dynamic things in this game, and I'd really hate to see it get sterilized. I hope whatever nerfs happen are creative and thoughtful and don't make Raze less fun. Transparency is great, more of this. Good to hear the replay system is on its way. Biggest concern though is the map rotations, what made the map pool boring was not split. It was Icebox Breeze (sort of), Sunset (especially), and Lotus. Rotating only Haven in for arguably another good map (split) is just changing one apple for another, would've been nice to have had Fracture and Haven, or Pearl and Haven, or Pearl and Fracture. One single map change in almost 10 months is very poor, no matter which perspective you take. I think its just a little out of touch with the general playerbase, something that likely could be solved with feedback surveys (ie. which maps do you want in/out). Also I REALLY think a map pick and ban for competitive would be objectively beneficial (almost every single major FPS has one), would also save on a LOT of frustration.
