Thank you so much! In my PLC class, we are currently on timers and counters and I am at a loss so over the weekend I decided to learn all over again. This video is very helpful!

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 02:48 🪜 *Ladder logic is composed of networks or rungs, resembling a ladder. These rungs help in controlling equipment by taking inputs, applying logic, and generating outputs.* 04:39 🛠️ *Ladder logic originated from relay logic used in older machines, transitioning to PLCs. It offers a logical and easily understandable bridge between traditional relay systems and modern PLCs.* 05:53 🔄 *Ladder logic's graphical nature makes it easy to troubleshoot, providing a visual representation of the logic flow. This simplicity aids in identifying and resolving issues in the program.* 08:45 ⚙️ *Different types of contacts (normally open, normally closed, positive edge, negative edge) and coils (standard, negated, set, reset) form the basic building blocks of ladder logic programming.* 20:33 ⚡ *Incorporating function blocks, such as timers, enhances ladder logic capabilities, allowing the integration of more complex functionalities into the program.* 23:19 💡 *Ladder logic can be used to solve logical problems, such as controlling an indicator light based on specific conditions like line stoppage and manual mode.* 23:32 🕹️ *Manual inputs, both internal and external, can be integrated into ladder logic, allowing control over outputs like indicator lights, demonstrating the versatility of ladder logic in automation.* 24:15 🔄 *Ladder logic's basic building blocks include contacts, coils, and function blocks. The flow of power from left to right, combined with logical conditions, enables the creation of powerful programs for machine control.* 24:42 🧰 *Ladder logic serves not only as a programming language but also as a powerful diagnostics tool. It allows easy tracing back through contacts and understanding the logic behind the behavior of a system.* 25:10 🚀 *Understanding the basics of ladder logic empowers automation engineers to build on their knowledge and grow in the field of industrial automation, making it a fundamental programming language in this domain.* Made with HARPA AI

When you are passing (or not passing) a current along your rung, I reckon the "normal" state of your device is irrelevant. It is either open or closed in the moment. What it is "normally" may influence the details of the device, but not the state which it is in, when we execute the logic.

Also, it seems in this video, for the XOR rung, you need to have both inputs 1 & 2 be opposing devices (no/nc switches) for the logic to work, correct?
