Seems like an EXCELLENT course. Decades ago I was into automation, Allen Bradley and PLC. Fast forward to now and I moved into 3D Printing and coding of Arduino and Raspberry Pi controllers, stepper motors and robotics. Cool stuff here and it helped me to do that work, years ago, and continue into a slightly different but related field. I even buy "as is, for parts only" 3D Printers and fix them, which includes diagnosing and rewiring the controller boards on the printers. So, it's all related and great that you are keeping technology alive.

Hey Tim, I am new into the connected components workbench software, I have some Rockwell liteiture on branches and nested ladder, i am needing to add some branches but cant drag like in 500 or 5000, i cant seem to figure this one out. i need to start from the beginning of the ladder and jump across several instructions on already several branches with a new branch to the other side of the instructions. hope i am making sence, if anybody can explain this to me any help is appreciated.
@TimWilborne2 жыл бұрын
Hi Robert. Highlight the instructions and branches that you want the new branch to straddle and press the control key and 7 at the same time. I'd recommend creating a new program and practicing first, it took some time for me to work out what to highlight. Great Sunday morning exercise, thanks for the question!

Tim, I used to utilize 5000 emulate software to simulate the cpu running... in Studio 5000, it looks to be a lot more involved... Do you or can you create a video on how to download anything needed, etc. and how to set up and install it.. Thanks! -Paul
@TimWilborne2 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul, the reason I don't have a video on emulate for Studio 5000 as I don't think it works that well. For very beginners I do recommend the simulator and Connected Components Workbench but only to figure out if you truly are interested in learning PLCs. And you are well be on that step. I'd start searching for some hardware.

Hello Tim, thank you very much for the time you take into making these videos. Maybe it’s a silly dream of mine but I’ve been looking into learning PLC programming, what are the very first steps you recommend for someone that is beginning from ABSOLUTE ZERO? Even with the terminology and everything from the basic principles, I get very lost while watching vids but it seems to be something I can learn and make a career out of. I’ve been looking into the robotics/automation courses that are offered by MIAT here in USA (I live in Michigan.) Would courses like this be my best place to start? Also, I’m curious to know your opinion on RealPars from Netherlands?
@TimWilborne Жыл бұрын
Check out this video about getting started. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hGmlp6CuaLilaJo Then look at this lesson series. You can get through the counter lesson without a PLC, then you can decide if you want to invest in a PLC. twcontrols.com/micro800-connected-components-workbench-lessons

do you accept design engineers into your course .... those who want to get better at designing systems that are easier for the techies to maintain and gain some perspective on real factory floor considerations for systems that break a lot because of design flaws vs those that only break when some I/O device physically fails (this is part of post grad research into dark factories)
