For me, I find ladder logic easier to trouble shoot. That is why I am more apt to use PLC. I do work in the automotive industry. But we use multiple PLC's fashioned similar to a DCS system. We build these in a layered fashion. As we change processes, we integrate each new system with it's own PLC.

Totally Agree , i prefer multiple PLC's to control different process instead of a DCS system.

The lines between DCS and PLC systems are far more blurred than ever. As a DCS engineer the analogue aspect does still seem the largest factor along with the operator interaction. Great channel, well done!

I was asked about this question and I answered the same thing that you said. But the one who asked the question told me PLC's can also do analog control and they are also scale-able. The only thing that PLC will have difficulty in achieving is bump less transfer of CPU/Controller redundancy.

Crashing a PLC in a running plant is not a fun experience. so easy to do and can cause soo many problems. To many plants don't have redundant controllers to save on costs.

DCS takes lot of time to process data. PLC is very quick. Siemens uses S7400 CPU for both PLC and DCS application. This is simply not true.

PLC also will come with redundant configurations. So what is the problem having one controller for the whole plant

Can you make a video about scadas? I've seen for siemens some products like PC7 for this systems. But for AB i dont really know how it works, the only thing I know about this is Wonderware for screen design, but what or how is the data process? nice videos dude, I have few days since I found your material specially Q&A sesions. Regards

PSC 7 is a process control system and it is a kind of siemens DCS system and it has many libraries according to process application, like for Cement and coal mining industry it has CEMAT lab,for oil and gas it has different libraries and for HMI they use wincc application for presentation and control of plant.
