Do you know of a way to tell what firmware version is on a 1785 - BCM/C. We are in a pinch looking for spare parts but cannot get confirmation of firmware version on the BCM. Thank you.

Hi Shane: As far as I know the firmware revision is printed on the side label of the module. There were not many changes in the firmware of these modules, so you *should* be safe in getting a Rev C. My suggestion would be to test on your test bench setup first if you are worried about not have a compatible module. Great question as it is not something that I have ever considered.

“Pktx rio adapter driver detected block transfer size mismatch for BT1 (rack:1(oct.) slot:8) Driver*” Any idea what to do about this message on my PV+? I have tried what is written in the knowledge base but that didn’t change anything. I have also tried two separate HMI.

HI: I have never seen that error. Suspect that you are using this on a PLC5? Possibly change out the RN6 communication card that is mounted on the logic module. The RN6 contains a standard 1784-PKTX communication card that plugs into the logic module. They can be set up for DH+ - RIO - DH485 for communication with PLC5 & SLC processors.

@@abplctestbench759 Thanks, yes that’s correct, PLC 5. The PanelView is connected to a 1771-ASB from the RN6. I have also tried two separate PV+ units. Both give the same error.

Hi:@@MrExtremehustler Not sure what to suggest then. Possibly check your program backups compared to your running file to see if anyone changed a parameter in the block transfers for the read and write to the PV. Is there data being written into the BT file area that is overwriting something it should not. Also is there a DH+ network and maybe someone is writing to your PV from another station? The only other possibility I might suggest is changing out the logic module and downloading a backup file to it. Not the file running on the PV you are having trouble with.

Hello very good video. I got a question, i hope you can help me. How i can connect to a plc-5 1785-L40C15 ?. i have rs232 serial cable, 1784 u2cna usb controlnet device, and 1784 ud2hp cable
@abplctestbench7594 жыл бұрын
Hello Victor: Use your serial cable and go into the 25 pin front port on the processor. That would be the simple way. You can review by watching my video about "Using RSLinx with a USB to RS232 Converter. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oZSbZZ5ujd2ip6M Thank you for subscribing

@@abplctestbench759 Thank for the answer i will try that. Another question, for programming what version of rslogix do you need? can i download / upload with rslogix 500?
@abplctestbench7594 жыл бұрын
@@victoralvarado7370 - You need RSLogix5 for the PLC5. Your asking that question tells me that you do not have the training or knowledge to go online and program a PLC5 processor. I would not advise you to attempt to go online to the processor without gaining professional training first.

Thanks for your answer, I'm still very new in this world, got like 4 months working with plc. Im still learning new things :D but is very interesting. i always do all the procedures with a engineer (my boss) that have 10 years using plc. He claimed that we can connect with those instruments (rslogix5000 and serial cable with 9 pins), but it was part of the task to discover that was not true. Today he give myself the correct cable (serial 232C with 25 pins) and rslogix 5 was on the PC

@@victoralvarado7370 Hi Victor - I have been working with the AB PLC's since the 1980's. It sounds like you need a professional to come to your plant and set up proper procedures for using PLC's. I would suggest that you and your supervisor be careful with what you do, the wrong keystrokes can shutdown the processor and then shutdown your operation. Good luck to you both.

I have machine with plc 5/11 Cat no 1785- L11B . Program file was corrupt Any suggestions who can repair.
@abplctestbench7593 жыл бұрын
PLC5 processors were original built with an expected 80 year life span and most are now at half life. Doubt that it can be repaired. There is 50 or 60 available on ebay right now in various locations around the world. These have not be made in many years but normally keep running. I would suggest that you go online and buy a few for your stock. As time goes on you will not be able to but. I hope that you have the PLC5 software and a backup of your running program because there is no way to retrieve the program from the processor if it is corrupt. Other option would be to manually key in using your paper printout backup of the program.

@@balarmilan 1st - What country are you in? 2nd - Do you have a computer that has the software and cable for going online to the PLC? 3rd - Since there is no ethernet port on these processors there is no way to remotely access them. You have to connect either thru DH+ or RS232. 4th - I think you need to find someone local to you that has experience in dealing with these processors. A professional is required that can prove they know what they are doing as if done wrong you will have to rebuild from scratch. Do not attempt to hire someone that can not prove ahead of time that they know what they are doing. This is an older technology and required the correct experience - software and training.

@@balarmilan Not sure what I can suggest to you. A few years ago there was a company in Egypt that had some people with knowledge. They are closer to you than I am but travel right now is an issue. The other option is to get you to ship the processor and your backup copy to me and I can see if I can revive it. But there should be companies somewhere in India that can help you as there were many PLC5 systems sold to India over the years.
