I'm completely with you on being more nostalgic for Ravnica than anything Dominaria. The Dominaria sets just never stood out to me. My favorite planes are probably Theros, Ravnica, and Innistrad.

Dominaria is Magic's original setting, but as a result it's a fairly generic fantasy world - the result of being created by dudes who were all D&D players making a game for D&D players with downtime. Ravnica is a setting that could only exist in Magic.

The old ones are still collectible. Remember, the frame they were originally printed in was discontinued once m15 released. So they are still very collectible. Especially in foil.

Grats on all the great pulls. Those full art shocks are so nice looking. Really wish they had chosen to use the original Life from the Loam art because it looks so much better than the art they picked. OG would've looked a lot better with the older border foil, I think. Hope you get to draft it somewhere! 26 showed up to draft at my store last week so fingers crossed for you.

While I do agree that the new Life from the Loam art isn't great, the original is by Terese Nielsen. They've stopped using any of her art since she went all J.K. Rowling. It's not just a choice they made because someone at Wizards had bad taste, that's just what they have to do with every card illustrated by Nielsen for PR reasons - same reason Force of Will's iconic art is gone too.

I'm aware. I just think Wizards made the wrong choice regarding the situation and was reactionary rather than measured. Now we get subpar art over a fake controversy. Just a sad situation all around.

Yes! Sphinx’s revelation. I played UW Miracles in standard and it’s easily one of my favorite times of playing magic. I love Rev and play it on pioneer even though most top decks don’t. Lol😂

Im convinced WOTC has something against Lazav specifically. He wasnt the face card of his guild kit deck, he didnt get an anime art, they are saying he's no longer living in the lead up of the new set. Its just rude. Lol 🤣

@PleasantKenobi, back when the lower priced Ravnica Remastered was listed at a price of $135.00 per box on Amazon, before that was a controversy and then they spiked the price over $200.00, I ordered one box at 135.00. You mentioned that you were wondering if it would ship at that price. Well, today I got confirmation that the box of Ravnica Remastered draft packs has shipped out at $135.00 plus tax. So they honored the lower price if someone preordered it, at least in my case, and I presume for other people too.

Your comment about the shocklands all looking different in your hand resonates with me. I had a similar feeling with the fetchlands in MH3. At a certain point you'll soon be able to run a different foil/art/frame/border treatment and still run all 10

It's always odd to see which limited common or pack filler cards get new art requisitioned nowadays and try to figure out the reason they felt they HAD to do it, lots of times its a cancelled artist or the art has skeletons on it, but I think in Disembowel's case it's either because it was really brutal, or Robert Bliss still really hates the art so much he put a pseudonym on the card, or the artwork just doesn't align with modern Magic vibes in their book. Or a combination of all those. Hope Robert Bliss (Chengo McFlingers!) is doing alright. Another note: Lord of the Void is a funny card. If someone asks you for a playset of "LotV" they are not talking about this card.

Just gonna wait until there price drops like DMR and I will happily buy a box to open and one to keep sealed. As I did with DMR. I've already seen some places selling it for £140 here dropping from that £180 so I would imagine it won't be long until that's £120 then £100. Tbh thinking about getting another box of DMR. These Remaster sets are so good so when there price is around the 100 range that's when I am happy because I do find these more premium and better than standard set drafts so when they are around the same price I know which one I would rather get. Also due to Play Boosters this maybe the last draft box we get, unless they still do just only draft boxes of further remasters and non-standard sets. But we'll have to see on that. And due to Play Boosters who knows this RR maybe cheaper than even all future standard sets.

I mean, most of Dominaria's story as a plane was either the screw-ups of Urza and the adventures of the Weatherlight crew. Ravnica felt like a living place. I want to say that's the reason why people loves Ravnica.

I was gonna draft at a store almost 40 miles north of me. They were charging $30. I am waiting for later in the month when the store that’s only 30 miles south is having it for $20. Sad to see people using the already upped prices as an excuse to price gouge more.

RTR was my last full set before I took quite a long hiatus from anything but the occasional commander game so none of the Allegiances is really recognizable to me but man were there some hits. Pit Dragon getting downshifted to uncommon really highlights how the game has power crept over time. It was a fantastic beater for the time and I saw it crop up in all kinds of places.
