Your pipes look brand new! Pretty impressive. You look after them really well! Amazing how those old ebonite stems look almost acrylic. Old stems are often turned greenish grey and can be hard to restore

Wow, that straight Billard with the fantastic contrast finish😮 Absolutely stunning classy looking pipe😙👌 I just love love love Peterson pipes. Especially the pipes with the dry system, the P-Lip, and an army mount. And when such a pipe is also 9mm filtered, then it's the perfect pipe for me. I bought quite a few older estate Peterson system pipes over the years, and I was able to convert almost all of them to take a 9mil filter, which can be done very easily on most of these pipes, since there is usually a lot of material to drill into. Only on one very small size pipe, I was only able to fit a 6mm filter, but since the bowl capacity is very small, the 6mm filter works well enough. Have a great holiday season my good friend Bradley✌️

Man Bradley you've been at this a long time. I just three months ago got my collection back out. Been doing cigars for awhile. Never had Petersons. Mostly Savinellis, non-pariel um-paul, a great english blend smoker a early 70'sBarling my first pipe! Have a Ben Wade freehand, a beautiful Caminetto KS 159. You made me want a Peterson so got myself a 307 sterling spigot system pipe(christmas present to myself). I need to thank you for making me do that, this Peterson is going to become my favorite. I seem to be able to ascertain nuance flavors in this pipe better than any other. Surprisingly enough another older cheaper Whitehall Astro-trap that is almost a system pipe copy and it does the same thing for me. So all this to say that the pipe you smoke a tobacco in makes a world of difference in the way your experience of a blend is perceived. Have really enjoyed your channel and recently sub'd. So thanks again for the push in the Peterson direction.

I have bought a classic 68 Silver too, will be my first Peterson. Although the shop I purchased from says it is a system pipe, the Petersons website doesnt really mention if it is or not... I will find out soon enough as it should be here by tomorrow and it sure looks like a nice pipe anyway.

Peterson and Savinelli are also myl two favorites. I only have three Peterson Pipes, bhut there are many more that I plan on buying. My Favorite Peterson is the Dunmore 78 from the 70s. The 78 is the bowl size for the Dunmore's and not its year of birth. I touch up any blemishes on my pipes with a fine point permanent marker. It works well and since it soaks into the wood, you may need to apply the black ink several times to get the look you're happy with.

I’m frightened to use my Petersens. They’re so beautiful, I don’t want to ruin them! I grabbed themoff of ebay for A$90 each (a steal!), a 2018 Christmas billiard X105 with a sandblast finish and a short x230, both new. The quality is amazing. Why don’t you own any calabash gourds? I bought an “old/new” Orlik Calabash off of ebay for A$100 (another steal) with a meerschaum bowl and just received it today. Not sure how old but it looked unused and had that typical old musty smell that denotes something decades old. I filled it with Sam Gawith Skiff mix and man! It smokes like no other. It leaves my cobs and briars in the dust. So cool, dry and removes most of the nicotine. And the flavour of my SG Skiff Mix was like tasting in stereo sound.

I have five Petersons in my rack so far, and I, too, love them, (two are system). The cool thing about Petersons is that there are a lot of them out there in estate sales. I don't think I ever paid more than $30.00 for any of them. A little buffing, a little cleaning, add the detoxification process (Kosher salt and grain alcohol) and you are good to go with an already broken in, looks like new, pipe. Here in the D.C. metropolitan area, we have John B. Hayes Tobacconist. They scour estate sales also, and do a lot of the gathering of quality pipes (if I can't). They do have a website, so do a search and check them out. I bought the system pipes from them.

Stuff&Things Update about John B. Hayes Tobacconist: Since I always go to their location at Fair Oaks Mall, I didn't realize how poor their website is in terms of disclosing the prices of their tinned tobaccos, or even displaying all of their merchandise. It seems like one has to call or e-mail them for details about what is shown or with questions about what isn't shown. Believe me, the experience of being there is so much more rewarding! There is another company with a long history in the Maryland suburbs. This is Fader's tobacconists. They were one of the first shops I ever browsed when I first became interested in pipe smoking. They are in the process of building a new website. The new one is: faderstobacco.com .The old site is : faderstobac.com/index.php . This company is as good as Hayes and their website is much more comprehensive, including prices of tobaccos... worth checking out.

Bradley, great to see your old apartment! Always liked the looks of the place. In 1972 I bought a Peterson Standard System that had unbelievable grain. All around the bowl was the tightest straight grain I've ever seen. And on the top and bottom of both bowl and shank, the tightest birdseye. There were two fills on one side of the bowl that ran along with the grain. I paid $15.00 for it, new. Years later, I traded it away for.... something. Even though I never got a good smoke from any Peterson, I wish I had that first one back!
@stuffandthingsyoutube5 ай бұрын
I should take a look at my pipes and try to decide which has the “best” grain. Could be a good video idea!
@tombrown18985 ай бұрын
I think that would be a great idea for an episode! Personally, I've always preferred birdseye to straight grain. In 1978, I bought a Golden Parker billiard with amazing birdseye. On one side of the bowl, there was a sunburst of concentric circles of birdseye, and on the other, the circles were slightly farther apart, but still tight. Across the front and back of the bowl, the grain could be viewed at a 90° angle. It smoked perfectly! I think I paid $45.00 for it, which, at the time, would equate to, maybe, $200 in today's money. Despite all its charms, I wasn't crazy about the shape, and the balance was all wrong, so I traded it away about five years later. At the time, gorgeous grain was a lot more common than it is today. In 1984, I bought a $10.00 "basket" pipe, with grain almost as nice. Cheers!
