I shared this on Twitter. This was beautiful to experience. I could endlessly watch artists work. I am a poet, and painters can do everything I can't. It's like going for a walk, and watching an eagle fly high above me. The sound of a dog barking, your boy asking questions in the background, your brush loaded with sunshine, clouds, and mountains, I could feel the summer heat on my neck, the bees being bees. All of the senses are activated. The witness is alive. It is wordless. Thanks for the experience. Cheers.

It has paints, brushes, a portable easel and i found a fold up chair. I just watched the Interior Forest Scene as you painted it. I'm always struck by how soft and juicy your paint is, even as it comes out of the tube so much more easily than the paint I use. Do you add something to the paint in the tubes? I know a painter who covers his paint with safflower oil I think, to keep it from hardening on his palette. I know you paint every day mostly, but even out of the tube they seem really pliable.
@turnervinson4 жыл бұрын
I'm not adding anything to my tubes, just straight paint how it comes. All brands do have some differences is their viscosity. I actually don't like paint that's too buttery and smooth, but has a nice body to it. not sure if that makes sense
@tuttleart4 жыл бұрын
@@turnervinson which would you recommend for good body to it? I was looking at trying the SoHo brand at Jerry Artarama and have heard Windsor and Newton good brand for beginners as well. I'm not a beginner painter but have had terribley finding right paint for myself. I paint very similar to you very little thinner and thickly. I love the brushwork you do! My favorite so far has been Gamblin 1980 colors, but they are very expensive. I'd like to find something more affordable that still has good body like u said not too buttery
@turnervinson4 жыл бұрын
@@tuttleart recently I've been using a lot of paint from the brand Van Gogh, but their white is too "buttery" for me. So I've been using either a Russian brand, Ladoga, or Blick Studio Titanium white

Very nice Turner, I have a couple of questions, firstly how long would a painting like that take to dry with the thick layers you use, secondly how many paintings do you get from 1 large tube of paint!. Hope you dont mind the questions.
@turnervinson4 жыл бұрын
This was painted during one of the hottest times of the year, and was dry to the touch in just a couple of days actually. Of course it can take a very long time for the thickest areas to dry solid. And for the tubes of paint, really it just depends on which color and what time of year. I go through tons of titanium white all year around, but not near as much alizarin crimson!
