Thank you for this video Dennis. I'd love to see how this box works. I can't really tell from this video how the cilps hold the painting and whether the top clip slides down below the edge of the box.
@DennisTysonPleinAir2 жыл бұрын
The clip does recede into the top of the box. There are two clips on the bottom that fold out.

Your tools are very good. I have been drawing watercolor and sketching from life, and now I am painting oil again. I know there are many tools that can be bought, but I prefer the tools I make myself.

That’s great you can make your own tools! Enjoy painting oil again?

when closed how do you keep the inner palette from going up and the paint touching the inner lid?
@DennisTysonPleinAir Жыл бұрын
You know, I’ve never had that issue. I suppose when I put paint in there I just keep it below the height of the sides. I don’t usually pre-load paint so if I put a lot of white, it’s almost gone when I’m finished

Thank you for this video Dennis. I am trying to decide which plein air setup to buy. This was very helpful. If you have time, would you please post the name of the tripod head you put on the sunpak tripod. I could not quite catch the name of it. Thanks again.

I have the Easy L Pro. Found it on eBay , in mint used condition, with no paint on it. Only missing 1 rubber bumper with screw. It was a steal. I love it. The only thing is, when I go to Art Essentials site, inc. your link, it states not secure...so I bought replacement bumpers elsewhere. I even tried to call, but to no avail? Are they still in business? Thank you for connecting me with this great easel! Jeanne

I’ll have to connect with Peggy and Eric and check on them. I haven’t hear from them in a while. I really like mine a lot and it continues to serve my needs perfectly.

Dennis, I have the Easy-L pochado box and I bought the tripod they sell. Ditto, I can't get the quick release tight enough to prevent wobbling. What did you do to the setup to fix that? I didn't understand your technical talk about it. I have following you for at l east 4 years now and welcome you to sunny, extra dry, Southern California..I must say you improved your plein air work considerably in the las two years. I am close by, Zip Code 92057 to you. In case you don't see this comment, I will also email to you.

Hey, now that you've had this box setup for a while - is it worth it? I've been sniffing around for a new pochade box.

I’m such a huge fan of my Easy L Classic Mini. I have over 200 paintings in the thing and it has been exceptional. I can paint from 5X7 up to 14x18 if I want on a light box that fits in a normal backpack

Thanks for the video...I’m thinking of buying a new EasyL and not sure which one yet (I’ve had my old one for about 15 years and it’s tired and a bit too small) What was the name of the head that you got for the Sunpak tripod and does the tripod have a model number or anything? How much does it weigh? Thanks so much...
@DennisTysonPleinAir5 жыл бұрын
The Sunpak is an Ultra Pro 423 and it weighs 3.4 lbs. The head makes all the difference in my setup and it’s from Amazon...Pergear TH3 pro. If you mention you saw my video to Peggy, she may give you a discount on the Easy L. I’m going to actually visit with her next week. I use the Classic Mini so it’s pretty small. I have had a 14x18 on it before but that’s the largest it will hold. Thanks so much for following along here!
@margaretcroft5 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for your reply Dennis - very helpful - did your Pergear head come with the release plate on it, or did you have to order it separately, and if you did, which release plate did you purchase?
@DennisTysonPleinAir5 жыл бұрын
It comes with the release plate and I really like the way it works...very positive lock.

Great - thanks - I ordered both the tripod and head from Amazon (got free shipping that way, too!) and just a box from artwork essentials....very helpful info, Dennis!

Just found you and subbed. Really enjoyed this vid. It was very helpful as I am looking for a new plein air setup. Could you please tell me which Sunpak tripod model you are using?
@DennisTysonPleinAir6 жыл бұрын
It’s a Sunpak Ultra Pro 423 and then I changed out the head to a Pergear TH3 pro. It has great holding power. I’m glad you found my channel!

Hey Dennis-- I got the Classic 2 about 8 months ago. Didn't buy their tripod as we have 3 but not totally happy with them. Did u buy the one recommended by Artwork Essentials or a different brand? Also, is that plexi in the box--if so how do you keep it so pristine? Mine is all scratched & stained! Cheers!

+JeanneBruneau Good Questions...I actually got a Sunpak tripod and put the head on it that you saw in the video. My lexan is 1/8" and spray painted with just gray primer. Then it is put in the box primer side down and sealed all the way around with clear silicone sealant.
