Thanks for sharing Dennis. What a small world. I have been watching you and Michael on KZbin for some time now. I have enjoyed all the videos you both share. My kids and Michael grew up in the same town and they went to the same high school so I have felt a connection. Love your painting. You did a good job.

Very nice interpretation of a Joshua Tree Monument earth mound. You handled the light and shadow in an exciting manner.

When I drove out to Long Beach from Michigan while moving, we drove all the way across southern Utah and it was amazing. I had no idea it so beautiful out there.

Very nice painting, I found it a challenge when I moved from Ontario to Newfoundland. The subject matter, light and weather gave me a headache but after a few studies and lots of drawings I finally figured it out. Your work inspires, thanks so much for posting.

That to is quite a shift! In the second video that I’ll post tomorrow, Michael shows his palette. Quite different from mine. Always good to hear from you!

Every time I hear about or see Joshua Tree NP I can’t help but think of the eerie ending of Robert Heinlen’s short story “And He Built a Crooked House.” Nice painting session!

Thanks Carl! I’m not familiar with that short story but will definitely take a look.

I just moved to SoCal from Michigan and I know what you mean. Green is extremely challenging. I have a video on my strategy... kzbin.info/www/bejne/l5q3epmZl9Gjbdk

Delighted to see you tackle this new subject. Nice result, has a primordial look. Loving the new Look. This Michigan painter is envious of that location with Michael and Ariah as painting company!

@@DennisTysonPleinAir did he say pint instead of paint? Certainly you'll want a pint (or three) at the local pub when there I imagine!! LOL :D
@DennisTysonPleinAir5 жыл бұрын
I’m sure we’ll want plenty of pints! In fact it may be a requirement to even step foot on the soil where Turner painted
@retiredpainter2595 жыл бұрын
Dont mention Turner in Constable Country Dennis otherwise we WILL need beer to escape ,, they hated each other and very rarely spoke
@DennisTysonPleinAir5 жыл бұрын
Retired Painter Of course not! I was speaking more broadly if the east coast there. I figured you’ll would provide me with necessary local knowledge...I like that paint and pint are interchangeable in your language

Great painting Dennis! I had no idea of the colours found in a desert, beautiful! It is so much more interesting while painting with other artists. ..can you feel an 'energy' while painting? I always learn something new while painting with others.Thank you for sharing this amazing video as I really enjoyed it!
@DennisTysonPleinAir5 жыл бұрын
For sure! The dialog about what we were seeing and how to deal with it was like Gold! The energy is definitely there. I believe it comes from an intense focus that we don’t usually exercise in the rest of our life. To paint it you have to really see it, which I suppose is a type of being connected to it. It’s the best!

I am only half done watching this video and I"m loveing it!!!!!!!! I HAVE to get out there soon! I think both of your paintings turned out spectacular! You know, that area also has a yearly art show, these should be in it!

Glad you like the Marta! They were a struggle just based on color mixing alone. The second video will be uploaded in a couple days. The mountains in that one are my favorite.

Well that looked like a great time Dennis with some nice work coming out of it and top folk to hang with! 👍👏 Hey if you get the chance go do some painting in Arizona. Go to Williams and stay there, it’s about 50 miles from the Grand Canyon with a population of about 2000. My wife and I stayed there and there are some killer painting opportunities around that area including the GC.
@DennisTysonPleinAir5 жыл бұрын
I’ve never heard of Williams Shane. I will definitely take a look. This was a rewarding trip on so many levels. First, those are some great guys and I learned a lot just from our conversations. The best part was that it was like we all already knew each other because we work so hard to make sure our channel personality is as authentic as our real personalities. It was an awesome time!
@Hillbilly595 жыл бұрын
Hi Dennis, yeah we came on it only because the train went through there so we got off and stayed a week, I would move there! I am sure you would love painting there, I hope to get back there some time. Mike always comes across as a top fella and his friend Ariah seems the same, glad you all had a great time. I have to admit I drooled a little watching the vids, looked like a great place to paint with good company.

You are right, in your opening, describing the desert landscape; so much there!! Which is weird when you think about a desert, the root word for deserted, aka "nothing there". And if your read Edward Abbey's book "Desert Solitaire", he describes the look and the feel of being there so well (as a park ranger at Arches National Monument, Utah, in the 60's). "There is Something about the Desert"!! So true!! Enjoy!! : )
