PRIAA wants to share all the work done over years of service to the Rhode Island community through our Apprenticeship Program. We hope you like the project "Reaching our people through our" Caribbean Arts Program (PUERTO RICO). Let's start a virtual journey. The apprenticeship program aims to encourage the exchange of traditional (folk) artistic skills between a teacher and an apprentice who is already familiar with the genre, and to disseminate it throughout Rhode Island.
The learning of the Pleneras in RI was developed at Christmas time, to unify two Puerto Rican Organizations, (one from Providence and ours which is located in Warwick), we work collaboratively to bring a message of solidarity and support to our " Hermanos Boricuas y Latinos "in general.
PRIAA is proud to present the project 'Las Pleneras of Rhode Island'-2020. The project consisted of a month of Folk Music workshop with "" Panderos "and" PARRANDAS "(Christmas Story).
Here is an example of Puerto Rican ladies, leaders and believers that changes are made by working. The video shows the third day of rehearsals for the creation of the Pleneras to delight our brothers with this genre that is so contagious and ours. A big thank you to our state arts agency, the Rhode Island State Council for the Arts, RI for supporting our program,
