Really love your work. What I admire the most about your paintings is the perfect amount of detail. You give enough colour and detail for the viewer to know what the landscape is, time of day, overall feeling of the setting, but you leave out just enough for the viewer to use their imagination to make up the detail that isn't there. Really entertaining videos. Will definitely keep watching them as they come.

Capturing the impression of detail with light and form. The tones were perfect and beautifully seen. Simplicity is hard to achieve and yet it lives on the canvas. Love the knife painting (you are pretty much the only painter on KZbin doing knife paintings and I wish more would try). Also, you need to get one of those face nets to keep the hoards of flies away from you're face, so you can paint without having to keep the flies at bay, and since you ware a hat, the net would work perfectly at keeping the flies off of your face, without impeding your vision or speech (think Amazon sells them :)

Hi Richard, wow what a stunning gum tree. I look at these trees so differently now after watching you paint. Brilliant. Are you able to tell me what influences your choice of canvas, sometimes you use white, sometimes Belgium linen, some times blocked in coloured. (I use white mainly because of cost but interested to know for when I do a special painting. .. but guess that really they are all special..) Many thanks again... Bill

Another Billant piece Richard. Two questions, if I may? You often refer to Belgium Linen, clear primed. What weight of canvas do you use, and do your weights vary dependant upon the size of canvas that you will be working on? (The last couple of video's I have notices you are painting on white canvas. Ringing the changes, or some othe reason)? The other question, do you Sign your paintings, if so, When and is it a typically flamboyant ' Artists ' signature? Stay Safe, Stay Strong. Peace.

I paint on any weight of canvas, so long as it feels heavy enough for the size I'm working on. I still like clear primed Belgian linen, just mixing it up a bit! My paintings do get signed once they are dry enough. A really need signature in cad red!!! Cheers :-)
