Very nice! I am completely self taught, so have no idea what a Lydian scale is. But it seems E Maj. might be ok too?

Thanks! The E Major scale will definitely get you super close! The only difference between a Major and Lydian scale is that a Lydian scale has a raised 4th degree. What that means is that starting from the root note of the scale, once you hit the 4th note, move it up a half step (1 fret), as long as you remember to do that for every octave of the scale, you are golden! Also you could play the B Major scale over this track as well because the E Lydian and B Major scales are related. Hope that helps! Happy Jamming! 🤘

Lydian is a major scale with a raised fourth . That’s all . For example, c major is c, d, e, f, g, a, and b. F is the fourth. By raising it you have f sharp making the scale now Lydian. Lydian is also the fourth mode of the diatonic modes but that’s another discussion

Hey! For this track I was focussing on creating a modal sound based on the E Lydian Scale. That being said, the basic chords I was using in the first section are EMaj, BMaj/E, F#Maj/E, BMaj/E, EMaj9. In the second section, the chords alternate between F#Add11 and EMaj9 with some diatonic intervallic structures over top in the second guitar part. I hope that helps! 🤘

definitely hearing the Plini inspiration, but while playing overtop I kept expecting chord changes that never came. After jamming for 5 minutes I feel like I'm kind of playing over the same chord with very few changes. Admittedly I'm focused on my playing and I'm currently 90% deaf in one ear (temporarily, thank goodness) so it could just be me. Idk, i'll try another track

Hey! When I was writing the backing track I was thinking of both the E Lydian Scale as well as the parent major scale of E Lydian (B Major). You could also think of this track as being in the key of G# Minor as well. Hope that helps!

It definitely shifts between E Lydian and F# Mixolydian for sure. The low F# in the second progression definitely helps reinforce the F# Mixolydian vibe! 🤘

Yes you are totally right! An E Lydian scale is the fourth mode of the B Major Scale, and the relative minor of B Major is G# minor, so that is why it works so well! I personally like using a few different minor pentatonic scales over this track. G#, C# and D# minor pentatonic are all cool options to try! 🤘
