This moment at 15:38 when Plini is shredding like a master, looking towards Tim what he might bring up after this and Tim then delivering a free-time-scale-madness-music-theory-defying solo line... priceless!

Tim is a mutant. Been following him since his first release and he's definitely not a conventional shredder at all. More like a fusion of the legato madness of Allen Holdsworth and the pastoral phrasing of Bill Frisell. He's something else.

Tim became a guitar hero of mine after watching this. I then looked all of his other work and became blown away. Fantastic style and fluidity. Certainly pull a lot of inspiration from him these days. Big up to Tim Miller!!!

I didn't know who Tim Miller was until a couple of days ago. So I played a video and this dude sounded like Allan Holdsworth and I went, WHAT, no way! He's awesome, I just listened to his first record Trio, and now I'm listening to Trio Volume 2. I have two more albums to go. Good stuff!
@reubennb28594 жыл бұрын
Pretty much all the guitar playing here can be traced back to Holdsworth's playing in the 80s. Love it all.
@afxmnstr3 жыл бұрын
There's some different flavors in here - definitely some Al Dimiola from Javier, Jake epoloys some pretty good satch/vai'ism which they do have things of their own that aren't purely inspired by Holdsworth. Undeniably theres holdsworth influence in the prog rock nature of things but they're drawing from a lot of great modern guitar players of our time.
@Minotauro_di_Chieti3 жыл бұрын
Tim's one for sure.
@wadsmitter5113 жыл бұрын
@Derek Pedersen I think that's just because the chord progression is the same as in inca roads. He definently sounds a lot more like holdsworth in terms of touch and technique, even a lot of the phrasing.

@twtobin9412 жыл бұрын
Agreed, seems very obvious that he has been very influenced by Holdsworth... the legato articulation, but also his choice of melodic and harmonic movement, how he places rests, little short fills, etc. VERY close to Holdsworth.
@rodiebobwilliams13302 жыл бұрын
@@twtobin941 Yes TW, that legato. I can’t even articulate that kind of precision. lol
@Lonnie-B1 Жыл бұрын
All true about Tim and Holdsworth. However, Tim does not use 4 notes per string like Allan- he gets to where Allan was harmonically and with legato, but his method of getting there (1-2-1) is very different. Tim also is a hybrid picker like Brett Garsed and Tom Quayle where Allan only used is other fingers when hitting chords, but not when soloing.
@ChrisBiesterfeldt5 ай бұрын
@@Lonnie-B1Generally true about Holdsworth only using right hand fingers with chords but later on he also used fingers with pick when soloing.
