1:17 I never saw anyone who seed in that state of soil. Wonder how it grows later...
@f0rumrr6 жыл бұрын
Well it looks like wet clay, im sure the rain will smooth it out over time. Could actually be really good if its really heavy clay soil, having all those air pockets to hold water and space to grow the roots. Because solid clay dont hold water for shit, and its just all around bad at promoting growth because it can get so dense. Im no farmer, just a landscaper.
@Wei_Lu4 жыл бұрын
Way to wet! Would be suprised if the seeding growes well
@kevinyaucheekin13194 жыл бұрын
That's heavy clay drainage and waterlogging is gonna be a problem. Hope he has drainage installed. How many horses my guess 300 bhp class or greater. Compactation is gonna be a problem need cat tracks. Thank the heavens for roundup.

@WeisswurstFeatSenf6 жыл бұрын
Great video! The soil looks very sticky and heavy. Fendt 1050s 500 hp are worth it! I wonder why the farmer only uses the harrow once to crumble the soil because it still looks very coarse-grained after the seeder (too coarse-grained imho).
@alexveldhuis60046 жыл бұрын
A rough surface is a good defense against slugs.
@farmerjimmy74536 жыл бұрын
Ya was thinking the same there should be a an extra power harrow on separate tractor to break up that soil
@aopstoar48426 жыл бұрын
I was wondering the same. Does the seeds go in properly and is the germination enough? It could be compensated by sowing more seeds per hectare. As soon we have the slighest rough surface there is not enough germination. In what way does the coarse surface help with slugs?
@lfeco6 жыл бұрын
Seems very course yet and still too wet to make a decent seedbed.

That is really nasty clay, I'd amend some sand or something into it to smooth it out.
@valuedhumanoid65744 жыл бұрын
This is how you farm. No-till is not it. Maybe in certain situations, but turning the soil over this deep and getting oxygen into the roots is where it's at. We have much better yields than with no-till. It does require more fuel, but the end result more than makes up for it. Just my experience with planting. Yours may be different.

I don't want to offend anybody or anything but my question is: how do you even get an emerge on that type of seeding? 1. I don't understand how that soil can be wet, but not sticking to anything. 2. How does that wheat even can emerge on those clots. 3. What yield (to/ha) of wheat do you get out of those fields? 4. How often does it rain there? Thanks to anyone who can answer those questions!
