Walking tour through Old Town in Plovdiv Bulgaria. An architectural and historical reserve featuring archaeological sites, museums, art galleries, old houses, public buildings, religious temples, romantic courtyards, cafes and restaurants surrounded by picturesque cobblestone streets.
Old Town clearly gets its name from it's origins, which date back to 6000 BC. You can currently see the remains of the prehistoric settlement from the period between 4800 and 4000 BC.
The Roman ancient theatre of Plovdiv is one of the world's best-preserved ancient theatre's. It was constructed during Roman Emperor Trajan (reigned 98-117 AD), it can host between 5000 and 7000 spectators and it is currently in use. The ancient theatre was used not only for public entertainment, it also hosted official meetings of local governors. every family head it's all rows and seats with their names engraved in stone. This amazing theatre with some of the best acoustics I have ever witnessed, offers live concerts and opera performances during the summer.
Old Town is definitely a challenge to walk around with it's cobblestone streets, so come prepared to break a sweat! 😅
