I actually quite enjoy building bathrooms just because everyone finds them boring, so I try to not make them boring, cluttering them up, giving a different vibe depending on the house, if my house has personality the bathroom has to have it too
@karolinapupi199773 жыл бұрын
Oh I love cluttering bathrooms! Makes the whole house look so much moe realistic
@BonaparteBardithion3 жыл бұрын
I always find it so much easier to clutter up a bathroom than a living or bedroom. There's always these predictable little things you need in bathrooms and kitchens. You can skim through the clutter and say "Yah, I need that". But living spaces are always so much more specific to the resident and I don't know what to put in them until I've been playing the Sim so long I've long forgotten about decorating.
@dykevader013 жыл бұрын
@@BonaparteBardithion Same! They are so easy to clutter up and design in an interesting way. Especially now, with platforms and stuff. Custom showers, experimenting with decor and plants, trying to much the vibe to the house... and it's quicker than making any other room interesting

@@karolinapupi19977 Think of it as the space most behind closed doors, where little bits of who someone is or what's happening in their life really shines through. Book piles, clothing piles on the floor for the messy and/or chaotic sim, a shelf of keepsakes, a mug from morning coffee or a cup of tea before bed, favourite magazines, the succulents they've moved from flat to flat since they were 19, an alcoholics wine bottle dropped near the bed, photos of loved ones, newspaper & rubbish scattered on the floor of a crack house, a loved pets favourite bed next to a desk. Personality doesn't just have to be for living rooms - think of the little things you end up having next to your bed, or the things on the floor you may not have gotten around to tidying away. I really enjoy picking a few things that give clues about what's going on for that person.

As someone from Louisiana/Mississippi, there are lots of swamps and we love it! (Or at least I do 🐊) Swamp houses are a thing, but they do take some clever building. There’s a new method of building floating houses on rafts and recycled barrels, but traditionally houses were built up on poles. My grandparents houses were like that before Katrina and I really love them.
@OneLastHandspringOK3 жыл бұрын
I don't wanna sound stupid asking this but if they're built on rafts etc when there's heavy rain will that reduce the risk of flooding too? Like will they just float up as the water level rises?

I will say this - bathrooms can be abolutely amazing but toilets are so fucking ugly that the best compliment I can give a bathroom is "it looks very nice" - maybe if the toilet was in a sepeatre room attached to the bathroom, but then there's a slight inaccessibility issue for when I'm half asleep or if I'm pissed (drunk), I didn't know I had such strong opinions on bathrooms until this very second
@thegeek41453 жыл бұрын
@Lotte I guess issues was hyperbole and what I really meant was I can be lazy lol, and I guess there is a benefit to having a toilet in a bathroom such as having more space for other rooms but as you say for hygiene and style having a separate room - at then end I can't believe I'm having discourse about a toilet 😂
@nono4743 жыл бұрын
@@thegeek4145 like @Lotte said in the comments below I also have a bathroom that only has a toilet and a sink (and another that has those two things but with bath-shower combo). And I much prefer using that bathroom bc 1. it's small so I don't have to look at a ton of ugly tile lol, and 2. I actually find it much easier for when I'm so tired I might as well be sleep walking. Because it's so small you can balance yourself on all of the walls. The other bathroom I literally only use when I have to shower otherwise I don't go in there. Also same I can't believe I'm so opinionated on bathrooms of all things 😂

as a louisianan i do indeed live on marsh and swampland! no offense taken lmao. best bet for the parcel of land you are looking at is building a house on a man made mound of dirt and sand. that’s how most all the houses by me are built. past the levee all houses are either up high on stilts or built high up on large mounds of sand and dirt. it’s quite expensive but it’s possible! contractors, land inspectors and engineers would be able to give you a lot of information on the options available. is the price of this land typical of the surrounding area? definitely look into the history of the parcel for any issues that could exist, such as soil contamination from factory waste (middlesbrough and the parish i live in are quite similar in that way).

One thing that would really change the game for me would be to build rooms in the roofs. Lofts and attics aren't possible and would add a lot to builds
@BonaparteBardithion3 жыл бұрын
If it's wide and/or tall enough, you can build rooms under a gabled roof. But they're a pain to play under because the walls don't drop properly unless you completely reduce them, and the camera will insist on panning up. It's easier to build a small room and surround it with roofing and then cap that, especially in games that let you easily change the pitch.
@tirsden3 жыл бұрын
I've made outdoor rooms out of half-gabled roofs myself a few times (just plopped on the ground, no real walls involved because you can slot a door on the flat side of the half-gable), and while they do work, they are indeed wonky when it comes to toggling walls down to see properly. It also gets weird decorating them, especially without the moveobjects cheat in use.

The point of the challenge is to illustrate both the similarities and the differences, the growth and setbacks of each version of the game, right? So this one or that one having nicer roofing, or one having columns and another having a gable or whatever, that's a huge part of the point, imo. So really, you're not cheating at all, love! Also, sorry for so many comments, but I like how (ignoring the missing bathroom furniture in some) these are mostly very playable builds. Lots of space for the Sims to move around and skill-build/socialize. Sims 4 is the best for routing (in some ways; narrow spaces work better overall except for the animations which require 4 tiles to accept the interaction and they can't step over some things which seems nonsensical but overall some of the best routing through buildings/world) but although cluttered and smaller spaces look more realistic and lived in, it's kind of nice to have some room to just breathe and of course if you play in the house, then there's room to customize it to your Sim's personal tastes and which packs you have (which impacts the hobbies they can choose.) These big rooms are especially good for the older games but still useful in Sims 4 and your builds are a little sparse but still way more lived-in than the EA builds. Just my opinion.

I love designing bathrooms in the sims. I'm not sure why. Maybe because it was the first room I learned how to properly use clutter. I also found I enjoyed them more when I became freer with the build cheats and playing with various build stuff (like setting the tub on a stage or creating my own standing shower with the glass door and windows) but yeah, I love making sims bathrooms, lol.

I totally get the holding in pee for way too long for no reason... Sometimes I'll even be aware of it and say "oh I'll do it after this thing" but then the thing I'm doing finishes, and I just keep going, without going to pee.

My favorite rooms to build and decorate are kitchens and bathrooms. But I also agree, going to the bathroom is very inconvenient. I think I like decorating bathrooms so much because they’re the smallest rooms so it’s easy to make them pretty.

I just realized I genuinely don't understand design styles. I just pick furniture I like without having any idea what style it is 😬

You style is most likely "eclectic" and there's nothing wrong with that. :3

Personally I like furnishing bathrooms. A.) Clutter B.) To me, bathrooms are always..comforting? I always build a mini spa for mine. I set up soft lighting, I use tons of clutter, I add incense & a stereo (for the new age station) and my sims take luxurious baths when they're stressed ☺

17:20 I absolutely feel like going to the potty is a waste of time, but even worse than that I feel the same about sleeping. I could be so much more productive if we had evolved to not need either 😅 Anyway, another great vid as usual, babe :)

build and buy is definitely the best in the Sims 4. I was never much of a builder in the previous games but I enjoy it so much now!

I quite like decorating bathrooms. They've always been a place for me to unwind irl so I like to make them nice and cozy. One of my builds was built around an idea I had for the perfect bathroom actually.

Cork city used to be marshland (Corcaigh literally means marsh) and we even used to have canals like Venice until the industrial revolution. So if your brother can live in a "marsh" then I'm sure there must be something you could do to drain the land and put down a new foundation :)

I actually love making bathrooms cozy with a bathtub and a lit of decoration. You know create an atmosphere in which I'd love to take a bath 😊

Totally with you on the topic of create a style, I've always found building in the sims 3 overwhelming for that reason

I love building bathrooms honestly, something about the space being so compact means I think you can go with more of a statement in the room than you might somewhere else, my only problem is everything needing so much damn space to be functional.

My high school was built on a marsh and all I have to say is that it’s full of critters. So if you don’t mind bugs and snakes or potentially something bigger trying to get in your house then sure lol

sims 4 build/buy is truly the best, i remembered loving sims 2 stuff but when i went to play it again it's so hard to sort through and just yeah...

Yeah it undoubtedly has the best features, though some of the auto features the game likes to do always do it incorrectly (wallpaper borders not placed correctly) I’d rather just do it myself!

hey Jess babe I am in fact from Louisiana and can confirm that there are a lot of swamps but for the most part people don’t actually live near them lmaoooo I would imagine to have any structure in a marsh would be possible but very expensive because the foundation and everything would be a ton of work
