I actually built a "4 wheel drive version" I used to race in the 80's. Back when you could buy a 70 Camaro for literally $175 bucks. I put it on a 73' Blazer frame which cost $200, the blazer parts not needed sold for over $400 so the build was literally free.

They kept that old distributor? A decent aftermarket unit with external coil would be better and still look stock.
@skylinefever5 жыл бұрын
When people go through this, they often have the original distributor rebuilt and sometimes recurved. It can be cheaper than a new aftermarket unit, even when the points conversion kit is included.

I don't see the downside to a hydraulic clutch, so long as it doesn't have a slave cylinder that requires transmission removal to replace. Also, the age of the car doesn't determine whether the clutch is hydraulic or not. Toyota was using them in some cars back when your Camaro was built. 5:46 I'm disappointed that there aren't any mandrel bends. Sure, they wouldn't look 100% like OEM, but they would be close enough and have a great horsepower benefit.
@jordanwiley45825 жыл бұрын
Yes, the age of the car does determine whether or not the clutch is hydraulic. It's from 1970. Camaros in 1970 did not have hydraulic clutches. At a basically stock power level mandrel vs press bent 2.5" exhaust hp wise is negligible at best. And if it works, there is no downside to a hydraulic clutch. The downsides are installing it and bleeding it. A mechanical clutch will almost never not work. Plus, its what was available in 1970.

Hey Guys , you are actually re-creating a 1970 1/2 Camaro RS/Z-28. There was no other car that year with stripes except the Z-28 and the RS/Z-28. those ARE z-28 stripes so they would not belong on an RS/SS .............sorry FAIL in identifying your Camaro re-creation though .........
@jordanwiley45825 жыл бұрын
You could get z/28 stripes on any Camaro model in 1970 you know it all.
@rexsterlingbuchanan29295 жыл бұрын
@@jordanwiley4582 Just because you have the stripes it don't make it the car a Z28 sir. You need to get some respect bro. I put this info out there so people that didn't know could identify a fake remake from an original. Whatever man. One day you will grow up i guess and not be so rude to people offering a hand out of kindness ........... I could also tell you this was the only year with the chrome "C" on the nose 71,72,73 all had red backgrounds. Also where it said camaro the 70 1/2 was the only model to include "by Chevrolet" but it would be a waste of time and apparently my knowledge as well ............
@bluestingray675 жыл бұрын
@@rexsterlingbuchanan2929 , They said the stripes could be put on by the dealer. They said the were re-creating an L-78 SS/RS, which there were only 608 built , a lot more desirable car IMO than a Z/28 which had more than ten times as many produced (8377).
