Some great game design. You have my mind working in new directions. :)

Thank you! A big part of our channel's mission is to present experiments in game mechanics. We especially favor mechanics that replace die rolls with guessing. Forcing players to make guesses and tough choices based on limited knowledge adds 'fog of war' without any complicated rules and separates the aggressive players from the cautious ones.

Seems like both a comprehensive yet super-fun rules set!
@WargamesTonight2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! The combat is basically a guessing mechanic followed by a die roll. The chance to make the die roll is not equal on all sides and is modified due to nearby terrain, allies, etc. So when a defending player guesses which side is under attack, they ponder whether their attacker chose the side with the easiest to make die roll or a lower odds side in order to fool the defender. Some players seem to be much better at guessing than others and I don't think that's just luck. Also, players get a real charge when they out guess an opponent.

Great rules - I hope they're made available at some point! Really different take on the game video too 🙂

Thank you! We are always seeking new ways to move our hobby forward, especially through experimental rules and videos. We are working on getting the rules, out but not until I think they are fully ready. More playtesting is required first.
@WargamesTonight2 жыл бұрын
The rules are now available through Bloody Scotsmen Games (they sell through Game Crafter). I'll put a link in the description where you can find them. They are also working on a pdf version and there is a boxed set but they only sell that one at conventions.

Well done gentlemen, well done! I've messed around with Musketeers and sword fights on and off for years, so am looking forward to further reports regarding this set of rules. Happy New Year!

What a fantasticly cinematic game! As a longtime lover of swashbuckling tales I really need to try these rules out!

Thank you Wendy! I grew up watching (and loving) all the old swashbuckler movies and this game is my tribute to them. It still needs some playtesting but I'm working on getting them ready for publication. Just check in from time to time for updates. We have more videos planned.

Atmospheric (love the scenery and the historical illustrations), superb (top notch figures and building), evocative (Alexandre Dumas++++), and very, very nicely done...Epic, worth a big thumbs up from France!!

@WargamesTonight Жыл бұрын
Thank you! It was great fun. Bloody Scotsmen Games is selling the rules as they exist right now (I have a few tweaks in the back of my mind). Bloody Scotsmen is also working on a pdf version but that isn't out yet. There is also a Facebook page for the game if you want to learn more. bloodyscotsmengames.com/shop

These rules look like GREAT FUN & your presentation of them, on this exquisite little set, really added to the cinematic appeal… Like you, I’m a huge fan of Swashbuckling Movies & books & some of the first novels I purchased when I was a Schoolboy (many DECADES ago), were The Three Musketeers & Scaramouche. I have a decent collection of 28mm Musketeers, Cardinal Richelieu’s Guards, various townsfolk, rogues & duellists of the period etc. as well as many buildings, terrain & scenic items with which to recreate many perfect setting go for such scenarios. I also have the “En Garde” skirmish rules but (as with so much of my extensive & eclectic Wargaming collection & paraphernalia) I have yet to play them. ☹️ Are you still play testing your rules or have you managed to perfect them & publish them yet? So glad that I chanced upon your excellent ”Hunt for the Goeben” video today, that caused me to instantly subscribe & - in turn - led me to this one. 😊👍 Sincere Best Wishes & Kind Regards to you. ~ LOUIS C.

Glad you liked it! The first edition just became available from Bloody Scotsmen Games (they sell through Game Crafter). There will hopefully be a pdf version in the not-too-distant future. They also have a boxed set available (with some really nice counters) but those are hard to find right now.

@@WargamesTonight Thank you very much, Kurt. I live in the U.K. (“Bonny Scotland” in fact! 🏴) so would have to order online. I’ve visited their website & bookmarked it & will definitely be purchasing a (boxed) set in due course as - when all is said & done - I am definitely “that better sort of Adult.” 😂😉
