Oom isn't a redeemable character. This is the only problem I have with the series as a whole. I am all for character redemption when it is earned. Yet, the way the adapting writers tried to rewrite Oom as an ultimately redeemable and sympathetic character, though it may have been a better choice for the TV series, left a bad taste in my mouth as a book reader and series watcher. It seemed like they wanted every character to be some shade of gray, but I felt that Oom should have no redemption. Even in the TV series, Oom mentioned that she broke up Ai and May to make herself feel better, so why would you try to redeem a character like this? In the novel, she was ultimately the reason why Paul died (with a bit of an assist from May), she tried to kill May, and she only broke up Ai and May so that May would suffer. Oom didn't care about her twin sister's feelings at all. Also, Oom knew about all the sacrifices that Ai made to make Oom's life better throughout their lives, and she still treated her sister like garbage (as it was portrayed in the TV series). That type of character shouldn't be redeemed. That type of character should be made to sit in their crapulence to accept the consequences of their actions. Yall had me rolling about May's dad. I was as shocked and confused as May was. I don't think that man can do a complete 180 like that in a year and half. It's honestly too soon, and I don't think that both May and Ton turning their backs on him caused this change. It was way random, but I guess it was a way from May's family to give their blessing to AI and May's relationship. 🤷‍♀ Khapook deserves a lead in her own GL series, and Namtam and Film deserve all the nominations for any award that they are eligible. Spoilers for the book ending of Pluto and Affair the series ahead: . . . I will say though the book ending of Pluto was completely different from the TV series ending. In the novel, May and Ai got back together at a mini-concert given by Pleng from Affair, because May and Ai's couple song was "Your Song", the song that Pleng wrote for Wanviva. It didn't take a year to happen (only a month tops or two tops, if I remember correctly), and May orchestrated the whole reconciliation plan (even getting Pleng in on the plan), after meeting Oom and squashing their beef, because Oom knew Ai was miserable without May. Again, why Oom isn't a redeemable character for me. There was no wedding, though it was implied that Ai and May lived happily ever after. From the novel, I kinda felt like Oom and Pang were going to end up together, but I'm glad that Pang ends up with Jan in the TV series.

you guys are hating oom too much for my liking lmao, i get the annoyance obviously but i kinda hoped you two will understand her. if the story was told from her pov y'all wouldn't like ai-oon that much either, remember that she never wanted to be dragged to any of this, her every action got a reason, not a justification but a reason. Namtan herself said oom is the most pitiful character btw and she actually said that oom is the best character she played in 2024. she even got annoyed at her mum for not understanding oab-oom.
