The first three episodes and last two episodes are clearly directed by different directors, the combat here is a lot more well staged and fluid with heavy emphasis on cool factor over logic - in a good way especially when it comes to series like Getter - with complicated maneuvers that are also painstakingly expensive to draw. This combat is most likely done or assisted by Imagawa instead of the stated Kawagoe. This is why after the first three episodes are aired Imagawa was sacked and replaced since his episodes, while of very high quality, caused Armageddon to go massively overbudgeted.

"Ryoma, Hayato, Benkei! This is the end of the rail I have built for you. After this, you should forge humanity's future on your own. So long!" -Dr. Saotome
The manga proves it. They both use evolution as their central theme. There's also this generation gap between Getter Robo G and Go. If you read the interview with Nakashima, he mentions Getter Robo in the very first question, even when the interviewer didn't ask him about it. He also says Getter Robo also influenced the dialogue in Gurren Lagann and that there are a lot of Ken Ishikawa-ism in it as well.
Gurren Lagann has more connections to Getter Robo than any other series. The writer Nakashima was the chief editor on Getter Robo Saga and called himself Ken Ishikawa's number 1 fan and a "Getter person". Nakashima even has a spot in the Getter Robo bible.

"In an interview, the writer Kazuki Nakashima cites Ken Ishikawa, co-creator of Getter Robo, as one of Gurren Lagann's influences. Gurren Lagann occasionally pays homage to Ishikawa's Getter Robo, particularly towards the end of the series, where the scale becomes absurd, with the robots steadily becoming bigger and bigger, much like Getter Robo more specifically, the manga version of Getter Robo Go." - "It's not like there's many ideas or themes borrowed from it or such."

You think Getter Team is awesome here? Here is a little tidbit of info: This fight's choreography is almost frame-by-frame recreated from 1st chapter if Shin Getter manga. Only in manga Getter G was a supercharged version with new reactor. And Getter team used old classic Getter that was gathering dust in the museum for few years. Which made their little teamwork speech so much more to the point than here.
Hayato has a way more gentle soul than he would admit to anyone, including himself... it's showed very well in the manga, and in the recent Getter Arc anime as well

*Shin Getter Robo feats:* MANGA: - 2 x stronger than the Amplifier Dragon. - Destroyed a portion of Japan by spamming Stoner Sunshine. - Assimilated an entire nuclear missile. - Assimilated Myu, who can devour the entire North Pole. - Terraformed Mars. - Possibly more than twice as powerful as Saint Dragon. ARMAGEDDON: - Failed an attempt to destroy Ganymede. - Destroyed 3 of Jupiter’s moons when powered by Shin Dragon. - Amplified Shin Dragon’s energy with one of its two Getter Reactors. SHIN VS NEO: - Two digits more powerful than OG Getter-1, who destroyed all of Manhattan atom by atom when it self-destructed. - Can evolve by will. CONCLUSION: Shin Getter is scary AF.

I'd like to point out that not only was Benkei the first one to snap out of it, and Musashi may have been able to beat Dragon despite being an illusion (what else explains his leaving the illusion and hat behind?), but Shin Getter 3 was able to beat Liger and Poseidon with ease. Sorry, 1 may be overpowered in terms of "thing that gets all the good attacks (Beam, Stoner Sunshine, Shine Spark, hell, even Plasma Thunder counts), but 3's just a boss in general.

I love how both Getters were more-or-less evenly matched against each other at first, so it came down to the skill of the pilots and the speed of their ability to combine. Well, until the Stoner Sunshine came out, that is. Metal Beast Dragon was screwed when that happened, due to having no way to counter it.

Depends on whether this Michiru ever got in the Getter Q, I guess. Or if the Getter Q even existed in this universe. Also, something tells me that's the real Musashi (remember, he WAS killed by invaders) but unlike Saotome who was running a hell of a scheme and allowed the Invaders to take control, Musashi was spending 13 years introducing the Invaders to his martial arts.
@TheShinyFeraligatr11 жыл бұрын
If it were a straight fight between Shin Getter and a Getter Dragon, then yes, Shin Getter would have mopped the floor. I mean, Ryoma managed to beat Dragons by himself in a crummy, dust-collecting Getter-1 (admittedly, he had a pilot advantage). The PROBLEM is that it isn't. The Metal Beast Dragon is in the shape of Getter Dragon, but it's more powerful, and is being powered by the Shin Dragon, which is far, FAR more powerful. Had that thing Shine Sparked, Shin Getter may have melted.
