I used to stub at the ground thinking that somehow propel me forward because that is what most sprinting coaches show here in KZbin. I am a soccer player and wondered why I can't speed up. I studied Hussein Bolt for months one day It revealed to me what he was doing. The guy was not stubbing the ground at all nor did he used his quads as most non trained people do to plant and push, he was actually scratching the ground with his boots barely enough to wedge the bottom of his shoes into the ground and drive them back as forcefully as he can using his gluts and the momentum he gathered from a higher foot position. This allows for a seamless work rate exchange between the quads and the gluts at high speed. Quads bring the foot down, the quads drive it backwards.

I've done these drills for 20+ years but this is the best coaching and instruction I have ever seen. Well done coach. I love that you're identifying exactly which muscle needs to contract and relax. Sprinters in-tune with their bodies need this type of instruction.

Hey chris, do you think you could do a video about balance exercises for athletes?
@josephbellott33714 жыл бұрын
im going to be a strength and conditioning coach for a university after school balance development is no complication... get a medicine ball and throw it to the wall so where it comes back to you standing on two feet and facing the wall... once you progress from that stand laterally and bounce it off the wall and catch it... then do the same thing but on one foot.... do 4 sets of 10 that simple
@josephbellott33714 жыл бұрын
another one is you hold a heavy dumbbell in just one hand and sway back and forth balancing on the ball while you sway it
@nate14944 жыл бұрын
@@josephbellott3371 do you have any exercises regarding balance without medicine balls?
@josephbellott33714 жыл бұрын
@@nate1494 Yea take one leg off the ground and put your arms straight in the air bend at the waist so your up leg goes straight back and your arms go straight forward like a superman Another one is Simply fall off of a platform about a foot high land with one foot and hold that for 5 seconds right when you hit the ground once you can do it without weight hold a dumbbell in one hand just pick a side and jump down and land it with the db arm straight out to the side
