Big shout out to Tim at the Offcut for making the coolest looking hinge jig I have ever seen! Check out his awesome furniture building yt channel here / @theoffcut
In this exciting episode we grain-match our plywood cabinets! We are using the nova pro scala drawer system, so I had to come up with a way to attach the fronts consistently and still maintain the correct grain pattern. Tricky! especially considering this is my first time building a kitchen, but if you are going to do it once - do it right.

nothing wrong with the size of that fridge, very suitable for the average kiwi house of that era, also you probably will retire the old fridge to the garage and have it as a beer/wine fridge so you have somewhere to keep bulky items etc. The kitchen looks amazing… so jealous…

Alarm! Don't put a fridge on it's back! the oil flows out of the pumps (or something) and when you plug it back in it will kill itself (20 year old knowledge, but likely still relevant). Make sure it stands up straight for several days and bang on the exposed coils to drop the oil before plugging in. (if this knowledge is out of date, please let me know) Great episode. keep up the great work. beautiful kitchen!

As a Kiwi living in America, I love having TWO fridges that are bigger than that. They hold all of our cold beverages, 4 large cartons of milk and OJ and have plenty of space for marinating meats etc. It also means that we only grocery shop every few weeks and that saves on petrol(even though it's about 1/4 of the price of petrol in NZ).

Hi Scott, You are right about fridge size. Most people have fridges which are way too big, use more electricity and end up full of food that ultimately gets thrown away! Besides you don't have to justify your choice of kitchenware / whiteware to anyone!

Scott, get a piece of angle steel 19mm x 19mm x 3.6mm. Use this along the inside edge of the doors on the cabinet, set back from the edge opposite the hinge side. This should help prevent warping of the doors

I have to admit that a couple of episodes ago I though the kitchen design was gonna be a bit bland or simple. Not in a bad way as I know you were designing it that way purposely. I'm from the states where we feel the need to make every cabinet shaker-style and make kitchens look like they belong in the royal palace of Abu Dabi. But then the way your drawers and wood grain turned out.....looks absolutely stunning. And it looks higher class then any "American" kitchen I've seen. Really stellar craftsmanship. I've watched it back 2 times. Love the look of the kithen.

Hey Scott, Iv really enjoyed all your videos. You and a couple other youtube carpenters have drove me to pursue a career in carpentry and wood working. Just under three years ago now, I joined a small custom carpentry and cabinetry company, where iv been getting experience in just about every aspect of being a carpenter to project manager. We build cabinets to the modern American style, Solid wood face frame, Plywood box, and inlay cabinet doors and drawer fronts. Ive had the honer of building a few cabinets for my family and even a couple side jobs. Iv always been interested in the frameless Euro style Plywood Cabinets like you have been building and this has driven me to try my hand at this style. I just bought my first house with some help from my dad, and Im now inspired to give this a go. Thank you for being such a great role-model and I hope you and Jess the best in the future!
