This was on a CD back about 20+ years ago titled 'Stonefree: A tribute to Jimi Hendrix' and it was easily the best song on it. Most of the other tracks were crap.

I bought that CD in 1997. All the covers were crap, except for that PM Dawn cover. I could barely tolerate the Cure's version of 'Purple Haze'. This record came out about two years after the Hendrix tribute at Seattle Center. (I was living in Seattle at the time). Musical guests were Jerry Cantrell, Mitch Mitchell, Buddy Miles and Noel Redding. (Can't remember if Air Force buddy Billy Cox was there). OH, WHO WAS ONSTAGE SEATED IN A THRONE? AL H E N D R I X and his extended family. Buddy Miles bowed to him, called him "The King!". It was fun. Then the 101st Airborne flew overhead (Jimi had gotten an honorable discharge from the Air Force in the early 60's). A nice day.
