प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने इमरजेंसी का जिक्र करते हुए कहा, 'जब संविधान के 25 साल पूरे हुए तो देश के संविधान को नोच लिया गया। देश को जेलखाना बना दिया गया। नागरिकों के अधिकारों को लूट लिया गया, प्रेस की स्वतंत्रता को ताले लगा दिए गए। कांग्रेस के माथे पर जो ये पाप लगा है, वो कभी धुलने वाला नहीं है। क्योंकि लोकतंत्र का गला घोट दिया गया था।'
