In Diamond and Pearl Cynthia had a really whack Movset on her Pokemon. No outrage On Garchamp. No Pettle Dance on Roserade Silver wind on Spritomb All of them just had bad movesets and she was still hard as hell

I wouldn't say it was a bad move set. Outrage hits multiple times and lasts in confusion. If she used that move it would be easier to predict what would happen next to send in a steel time without having to fear the earthquake. Same goes with petal dance, energy ball is still very powerful, but allows more control. Cynthia is so tough because its hard to counter her. If you used an underleveled infernape against her roserade she could still do a lot of damage with extra-sensory. And silverwind... well Spiritomb cant learn many attacks in fourth gen so the idea was to boost its stats with ominous wind or silver wind to let the player run out of PP. After all it is a very good moveset !

Petal Dance is a much worse move for an AI Pokémon, because being locked in a super-effective move can make things even more predictable than being already and Petal Dance base power was 90 in Gen 4, making it much worse than Energy Ball.

Bringing out Honchkrow was tricky especially since you knew Milotic has Ice Beam. It really pulled through with that critical. Likewise Roserade didn't have to go out so quickly either. If your Pokémon had even 3 more levels each you definitely would've had an easier time but very entertaining match! Well done. 👌

This battle was so hard for me when I battled Cynthia in my Pokemon Diamond game. After I lost to her the first time, I decided to stock up on Full Restores and Revives, using less as possible. Then, I FINALLY beat her.

what's interesting is that Pokemon platinum consistently has harder battles with higher levels in the main game, but then at the E4 Diamond and Pearl go sicko mode. A level 66 Garchomp is actually ridiculous considering the 8th gym had a level 49 Luxray as the highest level.

Cynthia was kinda a joke in DP. Sure, she had higher leveled pokemon in the earlier games, but the AI got a major buff in Platinum which easily makes up for the lower levels. Like roserade using shadow ball instead of a grass move and milotic using surf instead of ice beam, and also garchomp using giga impact instead of earthquake. The AI makes Cynthia a fucking joke before Platinum fixed it.

Her Garchomp doesn't have Earthquake. Its four moves are: Dragon Rush, Brick Break, Dig, and Giga Impact. So, she should have used Dig. Either way, Giga Impact is such a powerful move, and it worked well with Infernape's defense being so low.
