The Indians had WW 2 refurbished Centurion tanks while Pakistan had the latest Patton tanks, still it lost the war. After 1965 India started buying arms from the then soviet union including the T 56 tanks and Mig 21 fighters to match American weapons that Pakistan had. This continued till the 1990s ( Pakistan got the latest F 16 from US in the 80's and India had to buy Mirage 2000 from France. ) The main supplier of arms to Pakistan till 1990's - USA , China India - USSR ( Russia) and France

They provided F-16s to Pakistan against India, deployed atomic submarines at Bengal Bay against India, kept their yearly budget portion to Pak, and Nixen himself claimed that he was very near to using atomic weapons against India. Yes, by that time, the US helped India by giving food to a few primary school children. India is also giving help to enemy countries like Bangladesh.
