[PMD] Blue Rescue Team - Recruiting a Chansey in

I decided to route out the quickest possible way to recruit a Chansey using quicksave manipulation, and this is the result! This run truly shows how potent teleport and trap manipulation can be in speedruns. You can find the notes for this manipulation on my discord server!

I have a question I couldn't find an answer for anywhere... It's about the specifics of the something good wish. I have recruited all 410 Pokémon, except 2 Chansey and Jirachi, because, since I lost my mental sanity trying to recruit the 2nd Exeggcute (really bad luck, I hate that dungeon), I decided I'd rather avoid my RNG bad luck than fight it. I have not yet evolved many of the other Pokémon... Is it okay or do I have to evolve all the remaining to guarantee 2 wishes will give me 2 Chansey? Not some stupid Metagross or Slaking?

I haven't personally tried it out but I'm pretty sure that it'll give you a random pokemon that you don't have if you're already Lucario Rank. I don't remember where I read it but I'm pretty sure that it can give you a Metagross even if you have 3 Beldum or something of that kind, if I'm right (which isn't sure :p) you would need to evolve your other Pokémon to be sure to get the pokemon you want (except if it is a legendary ) I hope I answered you question^^

Anyone watching more recently: if you used a wonder mail code to unlock Plusle one will appear on 7F and block your way, but it’ll go down pretty easy

Lisinka15 you’ll have to defeat it to get past, so far it’s always wanted to join the team (I have my friend bow on at this point) but you are better off getting rid of it as it’s an extra thing to watch out for. if you want to recruit Plusle later on just use this trick until you get to 7F and recruit it. But I believe they also spawn in Thunderwave Cave

Hey Mystaldi! I'm loving the channel so far. What's your process for routing your runs? Also do you think that a warp scarf in conjunction with teleport would add more options or is more a pain than helpful?

Hey there, glad you enjoy it! For routing, I use the Wii U VC version of the game which allows me to set save states. Typically I will set a save state at the start of each floor and then mess around to see how I can best get to the stairs. In terms of the warp scarf, from messing around with it in the past, it is a huge pain in the butt to find good strategies for it, and I think in the post game when we have Alakzam it is fairly useless and would just be a pain to work with. During the main story however, I feel that it may be able to get put to good use. Thanks for the comment!

..........I can't believe it xD Oh well, I already got all Pokémon now xD Btw, I've found a pretty easy way in Wish Cave to clear the dungeon. You must Quicksave in the 21st floor. You'll find a lot of huge apples and max elixirs after that.

I didn't realize that the manipulation was going to be so hilarious though, I almost peed myself laughing when I saw that trap spawn a Chansey XD. Probably? The games never tell you this, but higher level Pokémon have better chances to recruit Pokémon.

This looks so easy, I feel tempted to try it. Last time I tried a few years ago, I met one but it did not want to join me and so I gave up on trying to recruit it. So question: do I really have to copy exactly every step you make, what would happen if I accidently went one step to far? Or if an an enemy kills me with a strong attack? There seem to be so many odds that could change the outcome of a run.

We still haven't looked into it, but I would imagine it depends entirely on what pokemon you already have.

From my knowledge, it gives you a random Pokémon that you haven't recruited yet, including their Friend Area if you haven't got that either. I used that to get Chansey, Blissey, and a few other Pokémon. It you've recruited every Pokémon then the wish gives your team a rank up, and if it's max rank then you just get Poké.

Yup! There are a couple of differences though, most important of which is that after you quicksave you will need to soft reset the game. Also it may not yield the exact same results for every floor, there are some occasions where it is slightly different.

I don't think it will be a problem for recruiting Chansey, but it may mess up a couple of the other floors on the way - sorry, I never really thought about the changes for if somebody put in the WM code for the other version exclusive. Good luck!

Please excuse me if I sound like an idiot for asking, but does this manip also work on Red Rescue? Spent 3 hours on 50F trying to find a Chansey, not one spawned. That run used 10 rescues on that one floor, I want this shit done already.

On RRT you need to reset the console after you quicksave - even then this was routed out on BRT, so I haven't tested to see if this works on RRT. Best of luck!

Nope, don't go out of your way to level, just do what I do here and you'll get it. It won't make it any easier.

Hey,where do you get an Alakazam from? Would the Teleport thing work with Guardevoir as well.

You can get an Alakazam by recruiting an Abra from Solar Cave and getting a link cable. The Abras in Solar Cave are level 16, so they can evolve into Kadabra right away, and then Alakazam. Teleport would work the same with Gardevoir, but its defenses are quite a bit weaker than Alakazam's, so you may not be able to take many hits.

Yes, you need to follow absolutely everything that I do on the 50th floor.

And does it matter what I do before reaching 50F because especially the 2nd time I wasn't following the route at all. Edit: 3rd times the charm. Why does everything do one damage? Pokemon's levels scale quite quickly in joyous tower and the you never leveled up so really you should get ohko by most of the pokemon in the tower.

When you quicksave in Blue Rescue Team, the floor layouts are set for the rest of the dungeon. This means I can essentially use trial and error to figure out where teleport will take me for each floor.

dude. I don't know how you manage to literally find the stairs on every single teleport. and always take 1 or 2 damage from other pokemon during the run. I don't know. I play PMD red on my DS dual slot. and chansey is literally the hardest one for me t recruit (all barring ponyta) and tbh I don't know what you do. especially.. to find the sweet scent trap straight away on the 50th floor AND for it to spawn a chansey. you either have unbelieveable luck. or that's fake af. nonetheless I will try this the exact way you have. and if it don't work then I call bull on this whole video

So I've explained this multiple times, but this is using quicksave manipulation. What that means in simple terms, is that I know all of the floor layouts because I quicksaved on the first floor. When you quicksave in a dungeon, it loads a default layout for the rest of the dungeon, so I can route out every single move for the entire dungeon. As for taking 1 - 2 damage, that is just because of Alakazam's base stats at Level 1, it has incredible defense. There is nothing fake about it and it isn't luck, I just know what is going to happen because I routed out the dungeon. When you are doing this on Red Rescue Team, you will need to reset the game after you quicksave, and the floor layouts may be different. Good luck!

ah. see I only watched the video. did NOT see the notes you added in and how it is done. ive been playing ths game for ages dude and have gone the hard way to recruiting a chansey with 0% success rate. its literally only the joyous tower for me to recruit now. I did use this guide. but it f**ked up on 28th floor. but it was working 100% so im glad ive finally found this dude. thanks a lot. defo watching all your vids for tip and tricks in this game now. legend

The only floor where defeating other pokemon matters is Floor 50 where you recruit Chansey, but otherwise it should be fine!

So when you see me quicksave at the beginning of the video, I am manipulating the floor layouts for the rest of the dungeon. When you quicksave, the game loads a set dungeon map, and because the floors are the same every time when you quicksave, I know exactly what is going to happen on each floor. So not only do I know where the stairs are, but I know how to move so that teleport takes me to the stairs, or how to manipulate the trap on floor 50 to spawn a Chansey, etc.

Lots, and I mean LOTS of trial and error haha. I am playing on the Wii U Virtual Console, so I can set restore points. What I typically do to find good strategies for each floor is just set a restore point and reset until I find something that works well. For the floor I recruit Chansey on, I set a restore point and found the trap, and then found a set of moves that would spawn the Chansey from the trap, and the same goes for recruiting it.

Yup! For Blue Rescue Team on the DS, you can quicksave the exact same way as I do in the video and you will get the same layouts. To do it on Red Rescue Team, you will need to reset the console after you quicksave.
