I remember when we were young
And I showed signs of a promising love,
I could hear church bells ringing
But they never rang for us because
I could never learn to trust or commit,
So you wrote that you would carry
All the love for the both of us,
At the time I thought this would be enough,
I'll just wallow in some dying lust,
I remember when I was insane,
When I thought people didn't change.
I thought we were making progress,
But your body language contradicts
Your monologue of pretext so I'll admit,
I'm losing interest and my love was a pretense,
I'm tired of these failing attempts to balance myself
Between what you want and the opinions of everyone else.
I keep rewinding progress. I know I'm a fiasco.
But it's not your fault, we were young and impressionable.
Though the man that you love doesn't love you at all,
He's still a good man. I'm still a good man. I guess.
Well I'll look at all the lonely people.
They say it's all my fault, that I'm alone because
I'm tenacious and I do not care.
So I'll just ignore the lonely people.
To them I know I don't exist.
I'm losing all my best friends, we were all hypocrites.
I'm losing all my best friends and I don't exist.

Bought this album about 10 years ago. I was 20-21, and was a serious heroin addict. Still lived with parents because I was trying to do community college for a couple years and still had dreams of making it as a guitarist. I rarely went to class, instead I would drive to Oakland to get heroin or to try and fund my addiction somehow. I would only listen to this album after I was able to score, and always this song first. I would prepare my hit and would wait for the “I don’t exist” part to take it. Then continue on with the album. It became part of my ritual to listen to this song. And even now, 10 years later and 8 years sober, it instantly takes me back to a specific street in Oakland. Or my parents bathroom. My addiction destroyed so much of my life. I had so many opportunities to make it as a guitarist, offers from bands I loved to join. But never could because I wasn’t clean. So many people I hurt from the lies and sometimes stealing. Thinking of those memories is like being told that a character in a movie is you. It feels like a different person entirely. Music is able to laminate memories like nothing else. I may remember those hour long drives to and from Oakland, but when hearing this song I actually feel like I’m doing it. I remember the smells and sensations. It’s very scary actually, I couldn’t listen to music for years after getting clean because I would mentally relapse before the song is over, meaning I already made the decision to relapse. And I put down my guitar for around 3 years. I can’t believe I’m married with 2 amazing kids and an amazing job. I threw away a life with my addiction but in the end was able to get a life worth 10 times more. What I’m trying to say is, this song rips still

Incredible story, man. My late best friend had a very similar story and was also the guitarist in my band. Incredibly talented and incredibly lovable, but wrestled with demons and found his crutch. We bonded over music and would always share artists like this. Glad to hear you made it out and made a beautiful life for yourself. I saw the struggle of my best friend while he tried to do so but I can never truly understand the difficulty of what it takes to escape that level of addiction.

I wish these guys would get back together. I know it will probably never happen since they never got their big break and there's not much to go back to... But still, it's such a shame... They had so much talent. I've only known about them for about 6 months, but I just keep coming back. Their guitar work is amazing, their lyrics are just so real and genuine, and they did something for me that most bands don't do. I don't think I'll ever stop listening to this album, or hoping for a new one.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM? Ive absolutely loved PMToday since the first day I heard them in 2004. They're from a town not far from me and I remember seeing them live a time or two. I literally would not have made it through high school without these guys. I wish I had the opportunity to tell them how much I appreciate their music. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I love these guys. Geniuses. Ive been listening to them so long the EPs I have are from limewire.

Ha - did anybody else go watch these guys when they played shows at The Attic in Hot Springs to crowds of like 30 people? My friend and I used to jack change from the fountains to pay the 5 dollar cover to get in and so we could buy their 5 song demo. I think i saw them play at a church with the Wedding once (lol). "This Disease" was such a tight song. Reminds me of 2005 haha.

This is one of the best songs I've ever heard... I don't really know what the lyrics are about, but I feel like can relate to them. And some of the sections in this song are so beautiful... Why are there so many other bands on Rise that are so popular while these guys aren't? Most Rise bands don't hold a candle to these guys talentwise.. *cough* Attack Attack! We Came As Romans Woe, Is Me *cough* I like most Rise bands, but pmtoday plays music from the heart, and that's what real musicians do.

To all of you who have been wondering what pmtoday is doing, They told me over formspring that two of them are pursuing music more seriously, (they didn't say who), and that sadly, they are not coming back as pmtoday. However, they did say there will be new music as soon as they feel they have gained enough skill to write and perform and sing again.
