Absolutely great reviews. Just remember.. Anyone watching and new, shopping for their first guitar... It comes down to the player. What you have inside of you that you want to get/put out into music. You can have a five thousand dollar guitar or a 100 dollar guitar. At the end of the day, all of that is important but the most important ingredient is the player.

I think with any starter guitar, either learn how to do a proper setup or pay someone for it, sure paying someone will cost $50+ atleast. But high recommend learning the basics of setting up a guitar, it will make your beginner guitar feels $500 more. Also HIGHLY RECOMMEND a hard tail piece, you know that beginners on the floating squire is going to whale on the trem arm and throw it outa tune. I think it's best for a stopped tail piece or a block off the trem on the fender

It's too bad that Costco stopped carrying the Washburn GWL electric starter packs. I got a Washburn Sonamastar Strat (branded as GWL, kind of like Washburn's answer to Sqiuer or Epiphone), an amp, a stand, a tuner, a gig bag, a jack cable and a second set of strings for $180CAD. How good is the guitar? - I still play it to this day as my practice and noodling guitar. It is incredibly light, comfortable and easy to play. I honestly couldn't imagine a better first guitar than my GWL Sonamaster Strat. And to think that it cost less than $180CAD for the whole kit still blows my mind. If I had known how good it was going to be, I would have bought more than one. When did I buy it? - About eight years ago in 2016, it was originally supposed to be a Christmas gift for my dad (because he mentioned thinking about learning guitar) but he ended up not wanting it so I decided to learn to play instead. Keep in mind that I do own two elite-level guitars, a Godin Solidac and a Godin Session and make no mistake, there's no comparison when it comes to build quality and tone, but my GWL is so good that I prefer to practice and learn on it rather than risk damaging one of my beloved Godins. Their website still exists but I can't find anyone that still sells them. It's a shame because to this day, I still marvel at how great my first guitar is, especially considering how cheap it was.

Lots of good options at this time, and he covered many of them. For me, the Yamaha's quality, components included and the flexibility they offer just edged the others out - although in the US you apparently get Yamaha's amp instead of the Line 6 Spider... On the bass side, I went used and got someone else's beginner pack with a Squier PBass and Rumble amp, then bought a demo Gretsch Jr Jet short scale bass to go with it. All together I think I've only spent just over $600 US and have my options covered... for now. And prices have gone up already since I bought !

I live in an apartment so i cant turn my amp up too much, im not sure if the amp alone can pick up the technique but my ds1 does lol guitars fucking cool as shit. You dont need a teacher. Just ears fingers and time. Keep listening to stuff you like, eventually youll find it or you will find something completly new. Every little thing you finds gonna boost your moral. Dont stop. Keep playing what your ears like and push forward with something different. Its maddening but you do see progress over time. Its all down beefing up your hand strength. Stretch and bounce. Hold chords now and then, try to slide. It takes time. Its taken me a whole year just to get a barre chord in position. I can get a few strums and a slide in now. Dont ever be discouraged and dont feel crazy if you keep strumming the same pattern a million times. Itll pay off. 🤘
