And wanting people in the hood to know he came from the trenches, and he's still just like them. But unlike him, a lot them feel like they have nothing to lose, and success puts a target on your back. It reminded me of Marlo's last scene in The Wire when he approached those two kids on the block and asked, "you know who I am?" There was a struggle and Marlo came out on top, but the takeaway was that the streets have a short memory.
