As an amateur with woodworker, i typically feel overpowered with the entire arrangement kzbin.infoUgkxrYREG3-7f1Aqk9ams3ZESRNzGnfdUtyQ . Be that as it may, this arrangements drove me through with much clarity and effortlessness woodplans. Works i now work like a genius. That is great!

At the end of the build you should do a video talking about how much you’ve saved on companies sponsorships and how the ad revenue paid for a portion of the home ext. It’ll be a really cool video considering many channels don’t want to talk about the business side of KZbin and how this series made you money towards the home.

What I want to know is, what goes under the stairs? Maybe some kind of low-maintenance indoor garden? Ya gotta put something down there. Since you can see right through. It could be a great feature to elevate the look of stairs even further.

Pretty much what I expected when they started this series: 1 - they will get a ton of views cause this series is great and special 2 - building a house with a 200k subs KZbin channel will cut down the cost significantly cause you can get a 20k stair flight for, well not technically free cause there is work involved but still Not judging or anything, I love this series and in my opinion you should leverage that hard work you put into building this channel and get all the sponsoring you can. It’s just not this „we build on a budget and so can you“-series because we have to pay for everything (again, not judging, I‘m happy for you).

I am planning to do something similar in May, but I am shocked by your prices! Main beam - 7.4m 8mm thick costs approx £200, intelligent welder £250 per day (promised to complete the job in 2 days maximum), for esthetics, triangular steel supports goes for the laser cutting £300. Wood - have not decided yet, but probably ash, or poplar - that will be very expensive. And of course, a lot of the elbow grease to paint everything nicely + bits'n'bobs (bolts, varnish)... My total budget for the project is £5k, and I do not intend to even get close to that number.

I could be wrong, but I don't think you can compare putting together stairs (kit or not) vs. IKEA furnishings as false representation of DIY. At the end of the day, they still did it themselves.

Pricing has increased substantially in the last 3 years. I just got a quote for $45,000 for a simple cantilever design. Way more than the $18,000 quoted here for a monorail with a switchback. Probably more cost effective to have it fabricated locally. Dissapointing.

I dont mind also making DIY projects..it looks easy, it's all about sending some messurements, make an order, have someone else make the parts. Wait, then recieve the parts and instructions, finally assemple the parts. But is this called a diy? (joking 🤣) I think i personally would go for a wooden floating stairs and do the cutting my self - must be cheaper. Btw, i wouldnt call the stairs in this video floating stairs.

Great Job, I am extremely happy with my DIY Viewrail install also. I Like your improvisation on the temp. handrail. Some tips for DIYers installing Viewrail. We had the mono stringer up for a while and no other place to get to the second floor on our small townhouse gut renovation. Use 2 x 12 temp treads with 2- 1/2 inch screws screwed down through the tread, through the holes in the stringer brackets into 3/4 plywood blocks. I had the top of the mono stringer bolted to the wood header and supported wood floor. No drywall up. I real carpenter happened to come see my project and he said I should put a piece of 3/4 plywood 1/2 inch smaller on all sides of the the header flange so i could slip my 5/8 drywall under the flange for a clean look. arrrgh. I unbolted the mono stringer, plugged the holes in the wood floor with dowels, installed the plywood spacer behind the header flange and reinstalled the mono stringer. It was worth it!

Very nice result however, this is something that you stand back and admire but what is going on with the visible underside . The socket for the brackets for each tread should fit perfectly. The big gap around it looks cheap. The manufacture could make a a cover that could make this look complete . You guys are handy I'm sure you could make something . Don't get me wrong, I like it .

Stairs looked Great! however i am concerned about the wood you fastened the horizontal frame to... that wall did not have a support in the right place and you put blocking in... I would have opted to get a 1/8" or even 1/4" steel or aluminum plat that spanned at least four studs and anchored the stairs to that plate knowing that there will be many many years of impact and jarring vibrations through that wall due to the stair mount...

I wonder if the choice of stairs would have been changed had they not gotten the 99.9% discount. I get why view rail sponsors videos like this but as a business owner that builds and installs custom kitchens I wouldn't want my other customers that pay full price to find out I'm giving away 4 free kitchens a year at a value of 20k a pop.

I'm 11 episodes into this and I am pretty upset about how unrelatable these videos are. For someone who has an actual budget of 300k they would never be able to accomplish what you have done. In order to accomplish everything you are doing we would need sponsorships or friends/family in the biz who are willing to do work for free. Unless you are well known on social media no one is going to throw a free staircase our way or free concrete for a fireplace or free air conditioning. We wouldn't be able to do a lot of the work ourselves because we don't have experience in framing houses or installing tile. I wish there was some video source out there that can actually help a normal person stay on a budget for a modern home design.

We are doing it ourselves from scratch. I want the hidden attachment with wood ends covering the "pin" or whatever is attaching the glass side rails but do you know what they use to attach under the wood edge vs exposed pins? Or do we buy the pins and not use the attached exterior but have a screw like element placed inside the wood that covers the pins? Any idea or help would be super appreciated as we navigate this finished stair as a complete DIY project.

I'm a home handyman, but I was able to work with a local welder and glass company. With research and some thought, and a lot of time and care. I built a glass railed, 2 steel stingers , over 10 foot ,switch back rise. All in $5800.00. Sourcing the hardware was easy, as our cabinet maker pointed me in the right direction. It took 5 guys to move the main glass wall-about 300lbs. It looks beautiful, but I wouldn't do it again.
