I wonder if it would work on PMR, 70cm, and 2m. Worth a look I would say.

The similar looking PNI Extra 45 has a tunable screw tip and can be centered on the EU band. Screwing it fully down makes it usable on the low channels of the UK band. Removing the tip places it at around 28.5 MHz on the amateur band. Now if PNI had provided different length tips it could have been made usable on the EU and UK band but not for use on both at the same time.

yeah, I am wondering why they did not provide that adjustment on the Extra 48, it would have made some sense to do so

Would be intrigued to see whether it is capacitively tuned in the base or is a short loaded 1/4 wave. The narrow band width suggerts the former with an of band length Aerial. G6DUZ, Andy

I drive a dacia too, how do find it for ground plane? I have this actual aerial amongst others and find this has the best " stick" to the roof,the ml145 etc don't stick too well,,,

My Sirio magmounts did hold and worked just fine, though I did not want magmounts on the roof so fitted a set of roof bars and mounted the antennas to those, the CB antenna mounted to the rear bar had to have the mount bonded to the bodywork in order for it to work, the antenna I use for the 2-metre and 70cm Amateur bands on the front bar works without me doing that

What do you think of the Wilson antennas??
@PaulMcGeeM0WNU2 жыл бұрын
Having not owned one I cannot comment on them
@richierae9442 жыл бұрын
can you use the antenna inside your house
@PaulMcGeeM0WNU2 жыл бұрын
you could but I'd not recommend it as the range would be even further compromised

Doesn't that thing have little tuning rings on the tip?
@PaulMcGeeM0WNU2 жыл бұрын
I do not believe so, it's a fixed end cap on the tip that feels like it is well and truly glued on, the similar PNI Extra 45 does have these so I might look at the Extra 45 antenna in the future

@@PaulMcGeeM0WNU Ah OK, I think the President version does too. Interesting test though, i had been wondering how those tiny aerials work, my suspicions were correct haha
@glacierglider75312 жыл бұрын
I have the similar the president new york, i had to cut a least a 1/4 inch of the top to resonate on the muppet band(27.781). These are good stelfie antenna’s but dont put no more than 30 watts through it.

Which size dialamatch & with what base?
@PaulMcGeeM0WNU2 жыл бұрын
The small one, just screws into a 3/8" threaded base like a cheap magmount, this is the one I have but it appears to be unavailable from Thunderpole at this time www.thunderpole.co.uk/small-cb-antennas/solarcon-dial-a-match.html

Aerial garbage, to short to get a decent signal out of it anyway. The bandwith claimed is a joke. Bit like their radios 👎 Not the best.
@PaulMcGeeM0WNU2 жыл бұрын
I certainly didn't have high hopes or expectations with it, and certainly was not expecting the claimed bandwidth, far too wide for such a small antenna
@BoB4jjjjs2 жыл бұрын
@@PaulMcGeeM0WNU Yeah, doesn't take anyone with any know how to work that out. However, I was hoping you might surprise me, but no, very predictable. In any case, It's performance, being so small, would not be good! When I saw the aerial, I was quite amused, so thanks for that, 👍
