Yes your Salmonberry is actually a Thimbleberry. Yummy and IMO better than raspberries. Plus you can make tea from most of your fruit leaves 😉

Make sure you have 2 different varieties if honeyberries, not just two plants. Nit sure what you have but that will cause production issues

I believe what you think or salmon berries are actually thimbleberries
@gapey
@gapey 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I think you're right. I keep getting them confused. I ended up taking it out earlier this month because it was spreading too much. I didn't know it was so invasive.

All of the wild salmonberry plants where I'm at in the north eastside have been producing ripe fruit over the last month and are getting close to the end of their season (maybe 1 or 2 more weeks). I wonder if your climate, exposure, or variety is a bit different. Salmonberries like to be shaded by the trees.

hmm pretty sure they are salmon berries. they are in a pretty shady spot. There's a possibility it could be thimbleberry?

actually looks like salmon berries have pink flowers and these are white so probably is thimbleberry.

@@gapey Yeah it's a thimbleberry. The leaves on thimble berries are much much larger.

what kind of fly was that? I am in lower Washington and planted my joustaberry last year, would like to get a head start on preventive measures.

I think you are talking about the pests on the currant/gooseberries/jostaberries? They are sawflies. They invade every year. I'm not a fan of using pesticides and insecticides but this is the only exception and I don't use them while the bushes are flowering so it doesn't harm the pollinators. Monterey® Garden Insect Spray is what I use on them.

In love I also grew the everbearing strawberries grow a little and died back what can I do to bring them back
@gapey
@gapey 4 жыл бұрын
I'm thinking everbearing strawberries just aren't very good. Only one of my varieties is everbearing and it's not doing good either. Only 3 plants and they don't produce much and don't spread like the june bearing ones. You might consider replacing with a June bearing variety. Not sure if there are any better everbearing varieties.
