This is a pre-wedding celebration...it's like the official welcoming of the Bride and Groom by both families...and hyping up the mood for the big day. Tongan Weddings are all about celebrating each others' families and where they hail from. So the more cakes and food the better and it can be a competition between both families who has the most...lol. It's all for good fun.

Just sounds like It's the 2 families weddings instead of the actual couple. At the end of the day, the young couple didn't really benefit from it.

OIAI'O Foster if the two families benefit from it then the couple benefit too. For Tongans family is absolutely everything don’t expect you to understand coz your culture is different lol
