I totally agree with you about the rarity of strong women of color represented in mainstream media. I am trying my best to create a collection of dolls for my daughter that will not give her a complex about being brown and will emphasize strength and independence. Pocahontas is one of my favorites as well as Mulan and Princess Fiona (I like her best as the ogre). I am at the point where I feel like I need to learn to repaint the dolls myself so I can make more appropriate looking dolls for her (with less extravagant make-up and more ethnic features). Thank you so much for this video!

ok loved the idea top and feathers were amazing but as for the ruffles no , I would have made the panel the light blue and put the grandmother tree on it the ruffles would have been either fringe or leaves it would have fit in with who she was more.
