I can tell that PocketBook designed their UX with touch input in mind for stuff like their Touch Lux and InkPad series, and then somehow managed to make it work with a directional pad. Wow. I'm blown away with the work they managed to put into their UX to make it work.

Had a look at this as a second hand unit is available. I am not too bothered about a touch screen. I don't want to take notes at all... BUT the page turn buttons are a HUGE plus! The UI seems very cool and I am seriously thinking about this.

I wonder if these devices can use bigger sd cards if you format them to fat32. But having more than 32gb isn't really needed 😅

How does it handle footnotes, given that it doesn't have a touch-screen?

Long press navigation up and select the footnote. It's alright if there isn't too many of them

Probably should have asked this before ordering, but after you import a file/document is there a way to edit it? Or is it just reading and highlighting?

If not, can you side load a simple word processing app? (If so which would you recommend?)

Can't sideload anything on this model probably mostly because it doesn't have a touchscreen, apps aren't designed for buttons. Anyways, I think most readers won't let you edit anything.

If this has read out loud feature ....consider it bought ...do you folks ship it to India ? Even if this gets stuck in customs I can bail it out paying 115% of tax for imported devices Please do confirm ...it won't die on me for opening 5k+ page pdf's or Epubs ...as most engineering reference books come with over 1500pages average I am currently using kindle 9th gen yet I am not satisfied with it

It has a better dual core CPU than the oasis 2 and same amount of ram but I don't think it would be a good experience with 5k page pdfs. Even most laptops would choke on that.

After 1 month use, screen died and they wouldn't replace it, it's "my fault" even though there are no dents or marks or something and I didn't do anything to it. Don't buy this thing.

Kindle has a touch screen and no physical buttons (except for power button).

@@pipony8939 Kindle has a feature where you can highlight a word, read its meaning and then it is automatically added to your own dictionary. Later you can look through it and mark the words you know as learnt. But I don't use this feature so much, so I can't tell you more about it.

@@pipony8939 I have Kindle Paperwhite 10th (2019) and it has a backlit screen. Also, this model has a dark mode, which inverts screen, making it very comfortable for eyes reading in dark. However, now even entry level Kindles have backlight.
