I agree, the screenplay (screenplay is a script for the film, with details regarding the camera movement, acting cues, location changes and editing cues.) was written by me. The story, as it says in the opening title and the description is based on the short story in Malgudi Days by the great R.K Narayan. This was our humble attempt in film school to adapt a story that we loved. For example, Harry Potter is written by J.K. Rowling, but the screenplay was written by someone else. Devdas for example was written by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay, but adapted to screen by Bimal Roy, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Anurag Kashyap, and several others. Hope this helps clarify your doubt. :)
