I've been using my S2 Classic for a few months now and I love it. It certainly has a few imperfections, but nothing to stop me from using it daily. Also, maybe it's just because I'm a nerd, but the camera on the early watches was a pretty cool feature. I definitely support the idea of streamlining the watch for a "normal watch" appearance, but that camera was pretty neat.

Just as you really liked the keyboard for texting on the Gear S2, one of my favorite features on my Microsoft Band 2 is the keyboard. I haven't tried the Gear keyboard, but the Band's keyboard is fantastic. It fits all the letters on the screen and has more pages for numbers and symbols. The spacebar and period are in the corner, so that they don't waste valuable space on the bottom. It's usually quicker to text on my Band via keyboard or voice than to take out my phone. Michael, you can reorder apps so that the timer or anything else are the very first ones. Hold on the icon, or look in the Gear Manager app. Just got the Gear S2 Classic and I'm really happy with it so far!

I just got it and it's actually really good. Apart from the lack of apps, the smartwatch does the basic really well which Android Wear doesn't do. Managing notifications, replying to people etc. It's amazing. Just hoping to see more Google intergation and some bigger apps

What apps are you looking for, Big? Loading apps for the sake of loading apps I think is the wrong way to determine the value a smartwatch provides to you. I think it's better to view a watch in terms of the functionality it provides. Let's say you're looking for Skype and get pissed because there's no app for it. That doesn't mean that the Gear S2 doesn't provide Skype functionality. Instead, you could use Chat Hub to get your Skype functionality which will also include Whatsapp and Facebook Messenger functionality. So is not having apps the huge f-ing problem or is it that you're not getting the functionality that you want?

Still rocking my Gear S. The large display is unmatched by any other smartwatch. Still one of the rare watches to have a speaker and a mic for 3G or blutooth phone calls.

I have the T-Mobile version an it's just about everything the original Gear S was. All calling and texting features are there. I just wish they would've made the Classic the 3G version and not the Sport. I hate that they didn't make the bands universal on the sport like the classic.

a lot of people want the 3g/4g functionality so they can leave their phones home while they go running, so they would need the sport variant (and I don't think they wanted to make multiple models have that ability). Also, I don't really like how you can't interchange th bands as easily on the regular model, but I love how seamless the band and the actual watch are

The only reason companies are not selling smartwatches with cellphone connectivity is because they believe they are gonna sell less phones than before. Sadly, that's the reason why the smartwatches are not mainstream products. There were 2 of these watches with cellphone like connectivity, one by LG which it was cancelled for other countries different than South Korea and this one, which seems to be locked by an AT&T contract and cannot be purchased to be used in other countries. Lack of cellphone connectivity is the reason why I don't have a smartwatch and the reason why many are hesitant to buy one.

i just recently played with it in showroom. the screen tho. i thought i'm looking at real watchface. but surprisingly the rotating bezel feels creaky. it's good but not solid. maybe it's too loose? it feels hollow. more like a toy. and the band is hard. both silicon and leather compared to silky smooth and much more flexible pebble time's silicon band.

preordered the galaxy s8 and got the gear s2 for a buck. using it with an lg stylo 2, and im quite enjoying it. not perfect but having only used a pebble and a zenwatch 2 previously, i ADORE this thing. those werent bad but, well, they didnt have the right hardware for me. anyways, all i can say is i wish s voice was a bit cleaner.

No you cannot. They made it with a built in E sim. Which they say is supposed to be better somehow, but really it's so they force you into a wearables plan. That's one thing that makes the original better IMO. I liked being able to take my nano sim out my phone and put it in the watch.

Somewhat annoying when someone who has used the watch for months doesn't simply use the Samsung Gear app to rearrange the menu to their liking. You'd think a tech reviewer would comprehend this very simple step to improve user experience. Complaints of it not working well with the encrypted Nexus phones & with Google Maps are certainly valid but not mentioned. One would think a rebuttal based on multiple months of real world use would actually contain useful information (battery life, build quality, app availability). Makes the viewer wonder if the watch was truly used regularly over this period or if this is just another post to gain more views = more revenue for the channel. Clearly anyone using the S2 has far different complaints & compliments than shown on this video. So I call shenanigans. What you gained in revenue off your 55k views (to date), you have lost 10 fold in respect. You have ignored the biggest problems & glossed over the biggest benefits. Anyone who has purchased the watch knows this to be true.

+EnemyofHK I tried out the Android Classic watch for a bit and the Tizen app ecosystem is just too abysmal. It's like using a Windows Phone only more empty. I just didn't have the patience to wait for the apps to be brought over to the Tizen appstore (if it was coming at all). The watch itself is just gorgeous though, easily my top favorite after using the Moto 360 and Pebble watches.
