My opinion on premarital sex, comprehensive sex ed, sex in general Comprehensive age-appropriate sex ed (from kindergarten to the last year of high school) should be mandatory and be a graduation requirement for elementary and secondary school. Abstinence only sex ed should be banned. Abstinence shouldn't be forced upon anyone. A person is not obligated to be abstinent until they are married. Marriage is not a prerequisite for sex. Sex isn't just for married couples. Sex is also for couples who are dating and are unmarried. There is nothing wrong with couples who engage in premarital sex. It's their body, it's their choice and no one has a right to tell them otherwise. What two consenting adults do in their relationship is their business and nobody else's. Once the person is of the legal age of consent, they can give consent to allow someone to have sex with them. Marriage is not a prerequisite for having sex. It's stupid not to have sex before marriage. Sexual compatibility is an important aspect of any romantic relationship. It would be better to test it before making a lifelong commitment. Sex is huge in a relationship. I couldn't be with someone if sex wasn't going to happen and pretty regularly. One, it's a shared experience between just the two of you. It's intimate. If you don't want to have sex with your partner, you shouldn't be with them. A relationship isn't a business contract and shouldn't be treated as such. Discuss what your partner wants, what you want, and find a happy medium. One should always be willing to please your partner someway sexually. If they are in the mood and you aren't, it's not completely fair to force your partner to go without pleasure because you aren't in need. Find a compromise. No means No. Yes mean yes. By yes, I don't mean a coerced yes. By yes, I mean the person says yes themselves. In regards to my future gf/potential wife and I, the only person who's going to tell me how much sex I can have, how I have sex and what time of the day I'll be having sex (morning, afternoon or evening) is her. Conversely, the only person who's going to tell her how much sex she can have, how she has sex and what time of the day she'll be having sex is me. That's called mutual respect. Schools should abolish abstinence from sex ed. Abstinence sex education should be completely eliminated. By having it remain in the sex ed curriculum, it's teaching students that premarital sex is wrong which it isn't. Schools should only just teach students safe sex using contraceptives (contraception), that premarital sex isn't wrong and that sex is also for pleasure and not just for procreation. I think that sex is part of a normal loving relationship for couples. With that being said, I would not have sex with a girl unless I really love her. She and I would practice safe sex and we'd use contraception when we do decide to have sex. I think that sex should be between two people who love each other. To me, it doesn't matter if they are married or not. To me, love is the only thing that is truly important when pertaining to sex. I don't see how a marriage certificate would make any difference. As long as consent is verbally given between the two people that's it's ok. Doesn't matter what anyone else (eg. friends, family, etc.) think. Whether someone wants to have sex or not, that's the individual's choice and not anyone else's. If they want to have sex with someone who wants to have sex with them, and they do so responsibly, it is no one else's business. Sex before marriage is alright. In fact, waiting until marriage to have sex is a terrible idea. When people wait until marriage, then they often rush into marriage, just so they can have sex. Which results in them getting married before they should, and often to someone whose personality isn't right for them. Plus, they often end up with someone who isn't right for them sexually, but they had no way of knowing that until it's too late. To the strict/overprotective parents: I believe it is your child's right to choose what they wish to do. You raised them the very best. Now it's their time to make their own decisions even if you do not approve. The more strict you are with them about it the more they will rebel, get angry with you, and just in general have more emotional issues. You don't have to agree with all of their choices, be supportive though encourage safe and responsible sex if they do decide to do it. That's the best thing you can do. If you don't worse things could happen. STD's or unwanted pregnancies. Your opinion may be different from your child's but it is still their life to live. I know you want what's best for them, but sometimes people need to learn lessons on their own. I am a strong proponent of autonomy and free-choice. I have my own morals and beliefs standards. Sakru100 okay I just got to that part. I don’t think that’s the same cutting of wrist and genitalia. With any dangerous kink there’s always way to make it safer and to keep it clean to avoid the spread of disease and you know death. I’m sure there’s lots of rules/guidelines for it that Sharon didn’t go through in this podcast. Cutting of the wrist is just a horrible way of coping with depression and other mental illnesses.
