My MIL was in a nursing home before she passed away at age 83. She LOVED to crochet and crocheted since she was a young girl. She crocheted up until 2 months before her death. It didn’t matter if the colorway, type of yarn, just as long as she had yarn and a hook. So thank you for gifting the yarn to the seniors! So many cannot afford to buy yarn. Helen was one of those. She was thrilled if anyone gave her yarn. If any of the staff asked Helen to make her an item, she gladly did. I can’t tell you how many layette sets she made, and the beanies, oh my at the beanies. (Out of her own stash)Of course for the most part the yarn was supplied for her for their requested items. Thanks again Juan! Juan the Yarn Angel!!!!!

Juan, I have been a. nursing home nurse for over 40 yrs. I am crying that you would do this for the seniors! You are absolutely correct in saying that the one thing they crave is time from others. My sweet mom is in the home I work in and she loves visits and hugs. God Bless you for sharing with everyone, including us! XO.

Hi Juan 👋, very awesome haul! I think its so sweet of you to give the yarn out to the elderly/disabled homes, and you have me thinking about looking into the activities around me😊 i also happen to love the craftsmart yarn, im currently making my neice a pink (2 different shades) black, and white rectangle granny blanket, i have to get more pink!! I especially loved the flecking awesome yarn and the impeccable blues!

Juan, the Skeins! ( remember the movie Shane?) I have to throw in a photo of my Mom with her favorite lady from our Sr. Center, quite a few years back. Wilma was the shorter one and she was very good at calming the wound up Mom of mine that would show up at her Center first thing in the morning, in a tizzy over something I could have said to her, or who knows, but she would blow it up out of proportion and precious Wilma would calm her down. I worked in a Nursing Home and would go in on my days off to see my ladies, it was not an ideal job for me, I fell in love with all of them.

Hi Juan!! You are awesome! What a wonderful thing you did, taking the yarn to the senior center/s!! I donate quilts to Project Linus. I am now going to donate crochet blankets. I am not sewing much right now!! Crochet has taken a bigger part of my crafting! Love it! I love all the yarn you showed. A lot of new to me - yarn!! Hi Juan! I get a smile whenever I see you have posted a video. You are very positive and talk about "all the things" that I love! I chuckled concerning the fluff about the pronunciation of the word "skein." I have heard skane and skeen from various people and I think it is strictly a regional thing that goes with other words that are pronounced differently. Good for you. My mom planned ahead and had 5 daughters 4 grand daughters 4 grandsons 2 great granddaughters and a great grandson. She’s got a visitor 4 days a week plus the bonuses . Knowing my mother she enjoys her days off too 😂. I’ve asked my daughter who works at the childrens hospital to see if we can start crocheting for the kids again. It was stopped during Covid . We’re awaiting an email if not I think my moms home would be a good option because they are at a the stage where they have little joys because they are the most significantly impacted in regards to their Alzheimer’s and dementia. Super soft blankets would serve them well. I already have 3 my daughter sent me for them. I know the one thing my daughter is aware of as I started taking galantamine this week is that I want yarn and coloring books when I’m moved into the home 😂 Enjoy your wonderful yarn as well 😊hi Wilma . my mom Is Helen too. Ps I am also a mini Person 4”11😂😂😂My Mom was a shoe buyer had closet full my daughter Sarah’s closet it full of cleaning supplies. 😂😂😂

It is amazing and awesome that you bought yarn and donated it to your area nursing home and your Senior citizens center as a teen of 17yrs. Old I would go at lunch time when I was in high school to visit my grandmother and her friends at the Senior citizen center. I would have lunch with her and crochet or knit with her and her friends. I enjoyed my time with them and they always had such a great time when I was there. I had a 3 hour break before my last class of my day so this helped to recharge me. I miss my Grandma she taught me to knit and crochet and it has never let me down. I love your yarn haul.

Love your purchases! What a deal you got! Skinny cakes are not new and are one of my faves! Love that you donate to seniors! I bought lots of yarn when I was younger and working knowing there would come a time when I would have lots of time but limited funds. I am 71 now and am thankful I did it! So nice to hear this about you helping out the Senior homes. I ran 5 homes of 80 residents for 16 years. I suggest you contact the home's Activity Directors, and they will work it you and contact families to get written permissions for you. I'm sure they'd love to have you do a Crochet Activty. They love that sort of thing!!! And residents would love it too!! Thx for Michael's info. I was there getting yarn 3 days ago. Guess I go tomorrow!! TFS! Austin TX USA

Oh my goodness!!! You are the channel for me! I LOVE COFFEE!!! I love crochet!! Im a 65 year old housebound senior who when I can I donate my crochet goods to local nursing homes. I stopped when I learned that the nurses in one of the homes were selling my donated items on Ebay and pocketing the money. Now I donate to an Native American reservation up north at Pine Ridge and Hats for the Homeless. Thank you for your videos, I just love your channel.

I'm glad that you seen the comments telling you the elderly in nursing homes could always use some yarn. They will love you visiting them also. I was nurse in nursing homes my entire career, 38 years. But working and doing my job didn't leave much time to visit with the elderly. Thank you!

Hi Juan! That is so awesome of you to donate yarn to the seniors. I often forget I am a senior myself. Just hitting that age, so it really hasn't sunk in! We have a local coffee shop that pairs with a local charity each month, and half their profits go to that charity. They have a craft night each Thursday, mostly knitters and crocheters. It is my main social outlet, aside from visiting my neighbor. I need to go through more of my yarn and donate it. I am thinking I will go the other direction and donate to a local grade school. I would love to teach crochet to kids. 😊

The senior center in my hometown was so good to my mommy before her dementia made her unable to attend. I donated yarn to the center in honor of my mom and donated to the center in the area I live now. What you did was a great thing.
