"'For human and planetary health" . That's something we should always take into account when we decide to do anything. But unfortunately we seem to be doing exactly the opposite at a global scale. We truly live in a time where we have a dangerously insane and totally backwards mindset .

It is very difficult for an individual to make accurate enough comparisons to make the best choices even if they wanted too. The data simply isn't accessable or easy enough to understand most of the time it is part of why some people are proposing a carbon tax which would add a price adjustment relative to the estimated social costs of given raw materials usually calculating the damage based on estimated greenhouse gas emissions per ton of CO2 equivalent.

Regenerative farming and ranching is putting Carbon back into the soil every day now. The sooner we get wise and convert all our farming and ranching operations we can have some real impact on the C content of our atmosphere. Gabe Brown helped me begin to understand regenerative practices. Mother Nature helped him "see the green".

Individuals, politicians and corporations all need to do more to protect the planet from climate change. Go Vegan for your health. Go Vegan for the animals. Go Vegan for the planet.

If the individuals make the move that has the biggest impact. Businesses are there to make money. If the customers change what they demand the businesses will change.

Sorry Doc.. there's a guy here on the Gulf of California that he and his brother carved their initials into a rock in 1956. The initials disappear at high tide... and they still do. Yes... you're still TOP DOC.

Lot of science-denying trolls out. At least their silly comments are boosting Dr. Greger's videos in the KZbin algorithm! 😃

Here's what I'm seeing: The people who clamor the most about climate change and carbon footprints--are the ones who also think nothing of jetting around the world on vacation (because we all know that a vacation spent learning about one's own country is just--well, banal or something) often several times a year. They don't seem to worry about that behavior at all. They're more worried about MY behavior than their own. They also don't purchase bicycles and arrange their lives to the distance they can ride (or even walk) to. They don't quit their job that's an hour and a half away from their suburban home to reduce their carbon contribution. Nobody takes square aim at a certain Asian country that is BY FAR the worst climate offender on the planet. They don't do any of these things that indicates an actual commitment. They only do things that they can yammer on about on social media. It's STUPID.

It is the LAW that one using M.D after their name complete a residency. It is very strongly suggested that you cease and desist misrepresenting yourself and your qualifications, lest you be reported to the authorities, Mr. Greger.

He does appear to have a medical license at least according to this source www.doximity.com/pub/michael-greger-md This platform does require confirmation before a user can claim to have a medical license so it is likely to be accurate.

@@twn5858 government is doing a great job of reducing the carbon footprint by increasing self-exterminations amongst the population with their restrictions.

Ehhh the most effective is actually not having children. But climatologists won't tell you that purely because if you tell that to society, people will start calling for eugenics of minorities. Some other things you can do to lower your carbon footprint are: using cold wash settings for laundry, hang drying your clothing (you can get a special rack for that), commuting via public transportation/bike/car pool, buying things that are produced locally (not necessarily just from your area but if you make the majority of your purchases things produced in your country, you're golden but the closer to where you live the better), buy organic food when you can, and eat less meat and dairy (you'll cut your food carbon footprint in half just by giving up red meat).

Saying it saves 10 million lives a year makes no sense to me, everyone is going to die sometime. So surely we should be talking about longevity rather than lives saved. The only problem I can see is that unless we live a healthy and unaided life and then suddenly drop dead, surely there's going to be some need for health intervention at the end of our life. Would the extra longevity and concommitant increase in the population put further stresses on the man made facilities and the environment. Am I missing something here in my thinking?
