Omg. Joe is Burt . Except Joe is talented in UFC commentary, and he's an excellent interviewer. Plus he has real mma skills and he has always been fit. Bert drinks and runs Bert Inc.

@@rockyevans1584 Terrible is a bit harsh. He's average. In terms of interviewing it may be declining, rather than improving. To his credit his stated goal isn't to be a great interviewer. He chats with friends and interesting people. There's something to be said for a guy who truly does things his own way regardless of criticism. Trying to dunk on him just because he's successful is low effort haterism.
@rockyevans15844 ай бұрын
@@itmeurdad that's not to his credit, it's certainly worked for him but he's pretty ignorant and oblivious when dealing with experts of any field and then he fact checks his comedian buddies jokes. He's perpetually stuck in the same 5 talking points during small talk and his own conversational humor is pretty much rarely funny. He should be working to be better at the thing he's paid to do, but obviously his reach and influence are unmatched so I can't blame him for not caring.

honestly, the ticketing thing at the mothership is really cool. no scalping means prices stay low for everyone. it does suck if you can't make the show and can't sell it for even the same price, but the prices at his place are extremely affordable for who you're seeing. bands need to implement this.

Many of these comics are so out of touch with the average person. And give Joe rogan full credit for ushering in a new age of average comics. He’s one of the top 250, afterall. Its wild that people think David Lucas is funny with his middle school insults and vulgarity. It’s all tolerable until they speak of themselves as modern day philosophers. They’re largely overpaid pot heads with too much time on their hands. One of the funniest comics is Bill Burr and he doesn’t take himself seriously in the least.

In Ari, shane, and Mark's defense they were all advocating for the fans. Shane especially is well known for trying to give the fans an opportunity to buy the tickets at a reasonable price before scalpers can get to them. He charges way less than most comics at his level. Joe was the one who was acting obtuse like he didn't understand what they were saying.

It feels like comedians with podcasts are scamming their audiences. It’s entertaining to a point, but it’s getting old. Joe’s shows with comedians are my least favorite.

I think the comedians who perform and work there are pretty big fans of the place too. He pays more than any other club in the nation and has more pro comedian things than any other club. He allows comedians to leave during a shift if they need to do a set across town. Also he provides health insurance to all of the employees when no comedy clubs do that. There's a lot of shit to trash Rogan for (especially in this video, "fun coupons" Joe?)but how he runs the mothership is definitely not one of them.

The facial recognition sounds good til the employees have to turn people away who legitimately bought tickets off someone and never knew of any of these rules. They can be normal people who are fans and are now out of 100.00 or so dollars. I imagine that would happen multiple times per night. Then you have empty seats and angry fans.
@jugo19444 ай бұрын
If there are employees mediating this, then why does there even need to be facial recognition. People can show id. Employees can look at the id
@seangalvin45824 ай бұрын
@@jugo1944 that's true. Now that I think about it. I don't know how he plans to execute this. If the facial recognition at the time of entry indicates the person isn't the purchaser- an employee/ security will have to step in and talk to them. I guess the facial recognition will check at the time of purchase to see if it's a real person, but that doesn't help once they get to the club.

3:29 the real strategy here is controlling the narrative. Rogan was never a good standup comedian. He's more of an entertainer who used comedy to get more gigs in the entertainment industry. Being in the entertainment industry and gaining success in entertainment was more of a priority than being good at standup comedy. Owning a comedy club, especially now that he's a huge podcaster, helps him now be an authority on standup comedy. He can now be the judge when he wasnt even that good in the first place. When you cant do it yourself, or arent that good at it, align yourself as an authorative figure so that your skills and accolades wont be questioned, and you can prop yourself up while critiquing and judging others. Brogan got his comedy club. Tony Hinchliffe got his KT show. If you're in the baking industry, start a show judging other bakers. If you're in the finance industry, start a show judging other accountants. If you're in the auto repair industry, start a show judging other mechanics.
