for me, 2 years is the max a game should be showed/teased. what did it for me was cyberpunk and hytale. waiting almost 10 years for something you are genuinely excited for is so taxing. now i’m old and have fractured trust 😭

Alot of studio's do this, Insomniac's Marvel's Wolverine was announced 3 years ago and still nothing, Alot of studio's shoot themselves in the foot by announcing games years from development completion, I think studio's should at least announce games 6-12 months away from release date, that would be best for both the developers and for the audience.

Nothing is worse than Todd Howard revealing ES6 in 2018 and then not even starting to work on the game until 2023.

Having a friend in game development. The reason these trailers are shown so early is also a marketing ploy to prove interest in the game to the publisher while also marketing to needed new devs. I understand the annoyance behind doing this but for certain projects that could be risky with cost analysis, this is very much needed. That’s why some of these games just disappear due to first impression being lukewarm or not having enough potential employees apply

The Kingdom Hearts community has become very Jaded over the last decade. Sadly the Attitude from Square Enix towards the fans is you’ll get shown something when we feel like it because you’re going to buy it anyway. It really has been poorly managed since KH2 came out. Why show something when the fans go years without 1 update. Kids could literally start higschool seeing a KH4 announcement and have graduated and midway through colleague by the time it comes out. Just over it tbh…

Yeah, I’m sick of getting reveals for games that are (currently or at the time the trailer released) at least 4 or 5 years away. E.g. Wolverine or Blade

Gotta agree with you on this one. I just saw a bunch of demos for Phanton Blade 0 and I got so excited bc I thought it was coming out next year and I’ve had post game depression since Rebirth and have been having a hard time enjoying other games and when I saw this game I knew it was the one to pull me out of this but it’s not coming out for 2 years??? 2 years???

Games are revealed too early and fans are then led to believe that the game is ready to release. Someone else said that gameplay should be revealed within the release window and I agree. We are even seeing the effects of revealing gameplay way too early. For example, the Kingdom Hearts IV teaser trailer showed gameplay, despite the game still being in development. Now many KH fans (myself included) are wondering what is going on with KH IV. Sometimes, just announcing that a game is in development is sufficient enough. Otherwise you end up in what I call “The Silksong Paradox.” (gameplay was revealed way too early, fans thought the game was ready, the developers have been radio silent, many believe the game is in development h*ll or dead).

Some of the games I’ve been hyped for are Blade, KH4, the Sega power surge, Dokev. But all of em have been just shafted as soon as they are announced, I feel like games nowadays should follow what most fighting games have been doing recently like tekken 8, street fighter 6 did, reveal the cinematic trailer, after 1 or 2 months they released the trailer for the premise of the gameplay and during 9 to 10 months, they keep us updated with directs, betas, etc.

To be fair it's not fear, they literally don't have it 4 years out. they'll all show it within 1.5 or less years to when the game comes out lol. But that's definitely the problem

I feel like there is a big difference between something like Wonder Woman, which could be awful, cancelled, development hell, vs something like Witcher 4, where I have faith it will actually come out in a couple years. Either way I don't really care, happy to know these games are coming, doesn't effect my life in the meantime.

Very early yes, Wonder Woman seems miles out despite being revealed ages ago. Dragon quest 12 was revealed in 2021 and nothing but radio silence ever since. Elder scrolls 6 was revealed ages ago too and people are saying that probably going to be a next gen game. Ridiculous stuff.

I say brand new game trailers should be announced when its 70% done thats enough to finish it in 1-2 years. Vs how games like KH3 announce in 2013-14 and it toke years through development hell to come out 2019 Hyped is tiring then. Also with new games that are unexpected like Concord you hid that game for 8 yrs with big expectation while releasing that new trailer and release date same year, you cant receive feedback to change anything because its already been made.

FINALLY!… I was waiting for a video like this. 🤣 I’ve been feeling like this since the PS4. YES! games are revealed way to early and studios need to be held accountable for that.
