Glad to see you using the levels to square everything up; including the arrow level and then marking the string. Never seen any shop do this,

Just came across some of your videos and starting to watch more. Do you or someone you know have a video on how to select your first bow? Unfortunately I'm across the country and can't stop in. Really eager to learn. Thanks for any and all help.

I've learned so much from your videos ! Been shooting bows a long time , alot of trial and error but enough backyard experience to grasp what you're saying and why it makes sense. Why not have everything as precise as possible ! I love your approach to hunting arrows as well - lobbing 600 grain arrows - what are we hunting rhinos ?? . Over and over I keep thinking the same thought - do I get on a plane with my bow and come to your shop and get it setup right , or buy a ticket and fly you back east ?? Truthfully, bow shops around me sell bows ... Don't have a clue how to set them up. What's a second and third axis ?? You want me to put your bow on a draw board and measure the peep placement why ? Well we don't have a draw board here ? What's that have to do with a sight tape ? On and on , clueless

So why do we level the string and not the riser? I’m asking because I’m my head, When you shift cams over for tuning purposes then the string is not longer 100% level with the riser… I would see this more crucial especially with a sight like spot hogg without a 1 axis adjustment… and if you tune your bow right and nock travel is good then the angle of your string shouldn’t matter… leveling string could change your grip from bow to bow if they shim different for tune… wouldn’t leveling off the string put a “CANT” in your bow is you for example shim the bottom cam all the way left and leave the top cam centered…
@RobertWilliams82-222 жыл бұрын
And I understand that a riser will flex some, but is it seriously more then how far a bow sometimes requires to have a cam shifted over?
@RobertWilliams82-222 жыл бұрын
Also, I am no where near the shooter good enough to notice a difference… I’m just thinking in terms of a mathematical variance
@podiumarcher34472 жыл бұрын
I agree with your initial thought but that’s why you wheel lean your bow for tune before you level your sight. Your tune should be done before you even put a sight on the bow.
@tomcable99982 жыл бұрын
can you explain more on leveling to the string vs the riser. I spoke with 2 bow shops and they were firm on leveling to the riser. I'm not smart enough to explain why leveling to the string is better. I would think adjusting the cam would move the string off plumb from the riser (assuming the string was plumb to the riser from the factory). The shop leveled my sight to the riser, then I played with it at home and leveled it to the string, which was different.

My problem with these levels is that they are not cheap. My problem with using cheap levels is that they are cheap and basically do not work. These are not cheap, but I am so glad I broke down and made the purchase. These actually work and work well. Good job Josh..

Quick question: Is it different to level from the riser than from the string? Or it’s best to level from the string always? Thank you

@michaelmangino98192 жыл бұрын
I'd start with some more back tension on your loop. Pulling back harder or softer can help. I totally have that happen often also. Another thing that's helping is when I draw on target having my bow at about the correct level of middle of circle also helps bcuz your height is already established if you do this. ✌💙

Does the string change its angle at full draw, or is it just as level to the bow riser when its not at full draw?

Have levels, need the vice! As an aside, can you do a comparison on chrono’s and in particular how ambient light (fluorescent) etc affect the accuracy of the chrono’s. My bow tech runs his chrono under fluorescent lighting, but if I move it closer to his window, the speeds are higher! Oh ya, I’m seriously a moron and like what your doing!

Love these videos! I recently took my ventum pro 33 into my local shop and asked them to add a few twists to the cable to make the draw length 1/4” shorter. They advise not to do this. What are your thoughts on changing the D loop length vs. twisting the cables?
@poppasmurf152 жыл бұрын
If they won’t twist cables to adjust 1/4” draw length, they either don’t know what they are doing, or are to lazy to do it

I need to do a test on the V3X and the triple stack Fast Eddie XL, if the sight returns to level when you remove and reinstall the sight? I have that set up and fitting it into the Pelican Vault V730 with the sight installed is tight, so I was thinking about removing the sight when it goes into the hard case. Since the sight bar doesn't fit snug in the slot, I am curious if it will return to level.
