+Kenneth Bankston I would absolutely love to learn to play that song on my ukulele. "Podmoskovnje Vechera," has been my favorite song I have heard on the ukulele since I have owned one. I love your video, gives me an idea of how I want to play one day.

Thank you again, corronco, for a nice comment. I did notice some issues with clarity in the video. Red saturation?? Maybe so. LOL This might be Russian Fun? Could be... actually, I think it's because I need to adjust the camera for its new home. We'll see how it goes on the next one.

Bravo! Great song and singing! Uke also sounds great. Sad, but Uke is not popular in Russia. I'd love to watch more russian songs played with uke here on youtube. Hey, singers with uke, where are you? Dmitri from Podmoskovie :-)

This is a truly timeless song. Thanks for your nice comment. The song seems as fresh to me today as it must have to those who first heard it back in the mid 1950s. I've read that it was first used as backdrop music for a film about Russian athletes relaxing in the suburbs near Moscow. The rest is history.

Thank you! I am always interested in what real Russians think of my attempts at Russian language. I'm glad you think my dialect isn't too bad. LOL

@GreedyBob You are a gentleman and a scholar! Thank you! To answer your question, I have been interested in Russian language, culture, lifestyles and peoples for many years. I grew up in the cold war era when Russia and Russians were demonized as the "Red Menace" and worse. During that time Russia was a closed society and very little was known about it by the common person in the US.

@Dimonina Greetings, Dimitri from Podmoskovie-- Thank you for your kind words. I have not made a Russian song video for some time although I have one prepared to do. I just have not produced it. I will be very happy to feature the "uke-alaika" once again in the video whenever I get around to producing it. I am in California, near San Francisco.

@Voloha40 Thank you for your kind words. The song as I sing it is in the key of D-Minor. The basic chord pattern is as follows: Dm Gm A7 Dm F Bb F ||: E7 A7 Dm Gm Dm A7 Dm :|| I hope this is helpful. If you need to you can tune to the video you can follow along until you've learned it well enough to play it by yourself.

I enjoy languages. Over the years I have learned some French, Spanish, Hawaiian and now I have taken on the Russian language. I guess it's my hobby as I don't have a direct use for the skill at this point other than my enjoyment of it. I have a long, long way to go before I can consider myself even a barely passable Russian speaker.

@GreedyBob ...After perestroika and glasnost opened the doors and information about Russia became more accessible. I saw a compilation of photographs on the internet which made me realize that Russians and Americans share many similarities despite the ideological and political differences that everybody focuses on. It piqued my interest and thus began my journey to learn about Russia, it's language, cultures and peoples.

No surprise that JFK might be humming such a sweet tune. I have that song, Midnight in Moscow, in my memory, how ever it came. President Kennedy may have been remembering something or looking forward to something, a sweet song rising up unbidden in a loose moment. Sounds right to me! It is a longing song, that is the feeling to me.
@venniey17 жыл бұрын
Yes, a familiar tune, I can see how it would stick in your mind, and one could hum it. You have such a sweet voice, thank you! How do you come to speak Russian? Do you speak any other language?

It is a catchy tune. Thanks for the nice compliment. Regarding my Russian...I started learning Russian by watching Prof. Huliganov's videos a year ago and went from there. For a more detailed explanation check out my video on the subject titled, "Re: Re: The Last Farewell" posted on April 17, 2007.

@frostyleaves Thank you! это очень хорошая песня. I am playing in the key of D-Minor. I don't have a list of the chords handy на данный момент, but If I run across it I will post it on the video. The chord structure isn't too difficult so maybe you can just figure them out by sound. Try it and see. Use Dm, Gm, A7, F and so on.
OMG!! A hater! I have arrived!! Anyone want an autograph? LOL

@MarjanJanczyk Thank you for your incisive comment. It is apparent that you are a person of high intellect and discriminating taste. Either that or you are a blithering idiot. I tend to believe the latter, however I do like the videos you post on your channel despite being, as you say, a fat pig.
